For the record, if you balance your activity level and diet just right, you could lose fat and gain muscle in such proportions that you won't gain any weight, but will lose inches (around your waist; basically losing fat). However, this balance is difficult to achieve. Everyone has a different metabolism, and everyone's bodies work differently; I can't tell you where that point is for you, or even for me.

I say, unless you're doing this for athletic reasons, don't worry about your actual weight--weight isn't that important anyway. The number that's important is not in pounds or kilograms, but in inches or centimeters. Try to be healthy and strong, and the rest should fall into place. And if you're a girl, don't worry about getting ripped. We females require MUCH more excercize to acheive the buff bodybuilder physique than men do, so you won't look "gross" unless you actually try to.

For the record, if you're male, you should have a body fat percentage of something between 16 and 20 percent, assuming that you're not an athlete. For women, it's a bit higher, 18-22, I think. Don't let your body fat drop too low. If you're female and your body fat falls below a certain percentage, you could stop having your period.

So yeah, try to be healthy and strong, don't let your body fat fall too low, and you'll be fine

Muscle weighs more than fat, so you may actually weigh more, but you'll look great!

i coach wrestling for a high school and have been in wrestling since i was 4 years old. Weight, muscle mass, body fat, and dieting are always something i have to watch out for in my athletes. We even have to attend a coaching clinic every year on nutrition and weight management. Here are some advices i can give you:

1)In spite of the common phrase, you cannot turn fat into muscle.

2)Muscle does weigh more than fat. Simple reason being that muscle holds more water. You always see body builders drinking gallons of water a day. This is one of those reasons.

3)So if you gain muscle, you will gain weight. But also note that you may gain fat at the same time depending on your diet and your workout routine

4)If you are looking to put on muscle, i would first ask myself why are you doing this. Is it for looks, for athletic performance/competition?

5)Lean muscle increases your metabolism. Thus burning fat. This is important especially for women, who have a higher body fat percentage then men do. IN other words, its harder for women to have that toan ripped look as men do.

6)Also a misconception for body sculpting is that you can spot reduce. A good example is that peole always say that doing crunches will burn the fat around your midsecion. Not true. Aerobic exercise (anything that increases your heart rate for a period of time) is the ONLY way to burn fat. Doing cruches will strengthen your abdominals and help support the rest of the muscles in your body. However, muscular resistance, such as crunches and weights, will increase your metabolism, thus helping burn fat. So you see the importance of both reistance and aerobic training. Good luck!

ok i just watched a health video in class about this...
heres the thing: muscle is muscle and fat is fat. you cant turn fat into muscle...and muscle does not turn into fat. you can build up muscle by eating right and excersising thouggh. so if you want to concentrate on building up muscle and getting 'jacked' you will gain weight..muscle weighs more that fat. if you want to just tone up a little and concentrate on losing weight..you can do that too.
they said on the video if you want to build up a lot of muscle, its important to reaally watch your fat intake. so depending on if you want to build lots of muscle or if you just want to tone muscles and lose weight..there are different excersises for you to do . write back with more info if you would like some more help

muscle weighs more than fat, so es you will weigh more, but it also burns calloried 10 times faster than fat, so you will loose you "fat weight" wich is good. dont focus on your weight too much, just use it as a guideline. wouldn't you rather look fit and weigh more, or look out of shape and weigh less. no one cares how much you weigh, just wat you look like. so you should defidentally turn your weight into muscel.
hope i could help.!
