Okay so I'm thirteen years old and I just got my period yesterday. I was at a pool party that day and my friends gave me a tampon, instructions, and locked me in a bathroom trying to get me to put the damn thing in. It was ''regular'' size (Tampex with the yellow code or w/e) and it hurt soooooooooooooooo much! I had the tip in and then after that it hurt soo much, it wouldn't go in. I just bought Playtex ''Lites Junior'' or something and I'm too afraid to put it in. Help!
dont worry about that, because things always get better. try using a pad first. then when your ready use a tampon. i reccomend playtex gentle glide. you honestly cant feel it. good luck! [ ImGoingDown's advice column | Ask ImGoingDown A Question ]
BabyCaitxo answered Friday June 10 2005, 8:52 pm: what i try to do is look for a path.. you have to feel around with the tampon, if it hits your bone, thats bad! dont put it on your bone) and dont put it in straight up. this might sound wierd but aim towards your ass! start with a small tampon first.. and when you have to take a piss, hold up the string. dont leave it in for more than 4 hours or else it will hurt really bad! and its gonna hurt for a while until your hole gets bigger. but its perfectly normal for that to happen. If it doesnt stop hurting after about 5 months, your putting it in wrong, your most likley putting it on your bone so remeber, look for a path! Ronlina answered Friday June 10 2005, 3:01 pm: Tampons are a lot to get used to. I didn't even use them at all the first year I had my period.
But, it's not something that's impossible to do. Here's something you can do to get used to tampons a little easier.
Plan a time during a heavier day of your period (or in the middle - not on a very light day). Get out a tampon - it may be a smaller size if you feel more comfortable with that.
Noq squat, or sit on the toilet seatin a way that you can still reach yourself. take a deep breath, and try to relax. If you want, instead of squatting/sitting you can put one leg up on the bathtub, but I find sitting more comfortable.
Take that deep breath, and pull aside the opening to your vagina. slowly let the tampon slide in, and if it doesn't seem to want to go, don;t force it or get stressed out. Just slowly keep pushing, and relax.
After a few tries, it'll be easier to do. You'll get the hang of it and won't be nervous anymore - and you'll have a lot more fun at pool parties. [ Ronlina's advice column | Ask Ronlina A Question ]
Ask_Ames answered Friday June 10 2005, 2:35 pm: Sorry but i have not started yet i am 12 and i think you should start with pads first and switch to tampons when you are ready or if you are going to be in the pool alot you should try to put a tampon in.

LuckyHugs812 answered Friday June 10 2005, 2:00 pm: aww, i know how you feel! that was my prob. too when i first got mine! it's b/c its your first time having your period, i would suggest that u just use pads for a little while, for like a couple of months, then try the regular size tampex again. but if u do want to try the lites junior, becareful when you try to put it in, go slow, and if it still really hurts don't do it! good luck! BabyGirl05 answered Friday June 10 2005, 1:44 pm: when you first get your period use pads for the first couple times to get use to it then try Tampons. You just probaly pout it in the wrong "hole" or somthing dont worry lites junior is made for the first times so go for it! DONT BE AFRAID and dont do it if it hurts because your doing it wrong. Get someone to exlain it to you!

*Kate* answered Friday June 10 2005, 1:31 pm: Alright first you have to make sure you have the applicator in not just the tip of the tampon. That is a very common mistake. But Dont worry it takes a few tries before you can get them in
