To shrink totally...you should raise the hems and take the sides in (or have someone do it for you)...ayt this point ou can do that or just gain the weight and grow ^_~

If it's not 100% cotton (and if it's silky, I doubt it is), then it's not going to "shrink" like that. The best way to fix it would be to have someone take it in. If you don't know anyone who sews, take it to a professional.

If you don't mind having a "quick fix", and know how to use a needle, you can take it in yourself. Pinch the material inward on the seam and pin it. Baste the fold tight to the waist of the skirt, and you should be set. I warn you that this won't look as good as a professional, but it should be fine if you're wearing something over it, and you can always take out your stitches later and let someone else do a better job.

Good luck and happy graduation!

Maybe you should exchange it for a different size, if you still have the reciept and the tags off of the skirt.

But if that doesn't work is your skirt a jean skirt or just like regular material? If its like regular material why don't you try folding it so it will look shorter, and tye a rubberband around the excess material so it isn't as huge on you. Kinda sounds like a bad idea, but try it and find out.

First off, if you put your skirt in the dryer it could shrink too small and the hot water and hot air might damage the shirt, and then you could do nothing about that so that shouldn't even be an option. I think that you should go to a tailor and have them slim down the size to fit you just right. I hope I helped!

Try taking it in by sowing or pinning it! Take it in the sides and length as much as needed.

A dryer is your only chance. Since you don't have one, you have a few options. Go to a friend's house. Explain your situation and ask to use the dryer. You could also go to a laundry mat. The dry cleaners would also shrink it. =)
