Physical

Question Posted Sunday June 5 2005, 8:56 pm

I'm getting a physical soon and I want to know what they do. Because last time I got one (about 2 years ago) the doctor made me take my clothes off. Are all physicals like that or do they just check your eyes, hearing, breathing, stuff like that? I rate 5's

This is what I need to do at my physicals..

-Get my eyes checked [reading of one of those charts, and then they look at it with a light]
-Get weighed, and they measure my height.
-Get my ears checked.
-Get my spine checked.
-They check my blood pressure.
-They check my heart beat.

I think that's about it. I need to take off my clothes, but I put a gown thing on. I think some doctors are different..

You can IM me anytime at lostxinside87 if you need anything!

Hope I helped!

i read what everyone else said and i guess that is all true. im not helping you but for some encouragement, just think of it this way. you will barely ever have to see your doctor, and he has done this a million times. he wont remember you specifically and think to yourself "it wont be much longer until this will all be over with". sorry again, that i didnt help with your question. dont sweat it.

The doctor will probably ask you to take of your jeans and T-shirt, and give you a paper shirt and shorts to wear. They'll probably weigh you (before you get undressed), measure you and ask you to urinate in a cup. The doctor will listen to your heartbeat, your breathing, take your temp, check your pulse, look in your eyes, ears, nose, mouth and maybe check your reflexes.

I hate physicals, too. I absolutely HATE taking my clothes off. Even though the doctor isn't "looking" or anything, it really bugs me. The last time I went to the doctor, I had the flu and pneumonia at the same time - I was really sick. The time before that... pulled tendons, ligaments, nerves and muscles. (but that time I didn't have to take my clothes off, just roll up my pants leg so the doc could check out my knee) I hate doctors. I like dentists better than doctors. I like orthodontists better than doctors. I like dermatologists better than doctors. Yes, all of those listed are doctors of sorts, but I don't like the doctors who... erg, do physicals.

Don't sweat it. The doctor isn't going to make you get all the way undressed. If he/she does, they're breaking code - that's unorthodox and wrong. (and uncomfortable for you) Don't get worked up. I know, I do the same thing. It'll be okay. You can pull the paper shirt close around you. Or, you could be bad and just not take off your clothes and tell the doctor that you're not going to do that, they can just listen through your shirt. (ouch! That'd tell them!) But that's not a good idea. Especially if your mom/dad is going to be with you. Good luck! I hope you're not too nervous or sick!

they check your reflexes, eyes, hearing, back. They make you wear a weird gown thing that has open back. They will check and feel all of your body parts for cancer and infections and stuff...

have fun getting a physical

Well, they do check your reflexes, eyes, ears, blood pressure, heart beat, and breathing. The doctor might feel your stomach and your lower stomach. This is normal, so don't freak out if the doctor does this. I am not sure if your doctor will do anything else.

Karen answered Sunday June 5 2005, 9:09 pm:
When you get a physical done, you aren't supposed to be fully naked but you will have to wear one of those outfits a doctor would give you, the ones that tie in the back. Your eyes, hearing, breathing, reflexes, and your back will be checked. You may also be asked to pee in a cup and that's pretty much it.

Ok, if you are going to a regular physician, then they will check the things that you listed (eyes, ears, etc.) These are called your vitals. You can tell a lot about if someone is in good health by their vitals. If everything is good, then that shouldbe all that they do. As far as getting naked, I have never heard of having to be fully naked in front of a doctor. Thata s little much! Even if you and see a gynocologists, you have a gown on. So, I have no idea there. But, you should not have to take your clothes off. No need to worry. These physicals are standard procedures. So, try to relax. Hope I Helped!

physicals don't usually include taking your clothes off. usually they check ears, eyes, nose, your breathing, your reflexes, and general stuff like that. you'll probably have to pee in a cup. and perhaps a few shots. no worries, you'll be fine.
