sweetXbeachbum answered Wednesday May 11 2005, 12:43 pm: Don't do fad diets. Eat healthy. Cut out all the junk food (chips, french fries, burgers, too much salad dressing, cheese to the most that you can, cookies, ice cream, and other fatty/high in calorie foods). Excercise every day for as much as you can. Eat when you're hungry, not when you're bored. Fruits and veggies are also great! Also, if you try all of these things and none of them work, you may have a thyroid problem. Go to your doctor and see what you can do and also ask about medication.

rainbowsend answered Wednesday May 11 2005, 12:02 pm: First of all, your weight gain may be more because of puberty/growing up and not just because you're eating more/exercising less. You didn't mention your age, but for example if you were 120 lbs at age 15, at age 18 you're very likely not going to still weigh 120. Sure, i'ts not good to put on a lot of wieght, but some wieght gain is natural. Me, I'm 19 and about 165 lbs. Now, when I was 13, I weighed about 135, and I haven't really gotten much taller since then. Now, I'm probably still overweight, but I pretty much know I'd have to starve myself to weigh 135, and that's not something I want to do.
The important thing is to eat right and exercise. Doing crunches really isn't enough. Now that it's nearly summer, get outside and be active! Bike riding, walking, rollerblading, running, swimming, sports w/ friends... all of these are great ways to get back in shape. You could also try aerobics or yoga exercise videos, dancing to music in your room, or whatever else you like. Aerobic exercise is the key. You want to be doing at least 30 minutes 5 days a week.
Now, for eating, it's important not to starve yourself. And making certain foods "off limits" is probably going to make you want them even more. You're much better off eating healthy snacks when you're hungry, stuff like apples, rice cakes, carrot sticks, light popcorn, raisins, watermelon, etc. Try to go for something around 100 calories, and don't overeat, but dont' limit yourself either. Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday, and make sure you eat enough fruits and veggies. [ rainbowsend's advice column | Ask rainbowsend A Question ]
SiLenTxfAiRy answered Wednesday May 11 2005, 11:35 am: its common, in the winter people tend to be heavier becuase your inside and cant be outside excersizing unlike the summer time. maybe look into a gym, there you can work out all the time no matter what time of the year. also, try to eat healthy. your body is hungry because you are working out so much, so its good for you to eat. however, when your working out..and even before and after drink water. try to give up sodas that have sugars in them. in the morning for breakfast have a fruit... then during the day eat something small that will hold you over.. then when you get home drink water and excersize. then eat a healthy dinner.
