there's this really great song by the wreckers-michelle branch and jessica harp callled "the good kind" so you could do that if you want something popular.

if you want something from like broadway you should deff. do "For Good" from wicked. it's beautiful! me and my friend did it for a talent show and it was awesome. it's such a great duet song!

if you want something like, way power ballad you should do the Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston song. um i think it's called like "when you believe"

hope this helps

hmm...i don't know...do you want like classic songs? (like oldies) or newer ones...
and it also depends on what kinda sound you want.
like pop-y, rock, etc...you know what i mean.
some good songs that i like (by females) are:
lemon (katy rose)
overdrive (katy rose)
going under (evanescence)
lose control (maria mena)

You guys should do the song "Broken" by Seether and Amy Lee.It's a beautiful song. And it's great since two people sing it, so you don't have to fight over parts.

mapetiteodette answered Tuesday May 3 2005, 2:34 pm:
Great musical songs- From South Pacific "I'm Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta my Hair" (which technically isn't a duet song officially but my friend and I split the lines and made it a great duet), from the Cinderella movie with Brandy "Impossible", or if you're looking for more perky songs there's Annie Get your Gun's "Anything you can do I can do better". Also one of my personal favorites is "The Phantom of the Opera" with Cristine and the Phantom- I know you are both girls, but if one of you is alto and the other soprano, let the alto be the Phantom and the soprano Christine. If you do a search on the Internet for "duet songs from musicals" you will get a lot more choices.
Good luck with your duet:-)

OrionsFire answered Tuesday May 3 2005, 2:25 pm:
First of all, how can you do a duet for solo tryouts? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of solo? If you are just talking about a singing competition, then listen to the radio and pick out any duets and see if they are compatible for both of you. Otherwise, Whitney Houston used to do some duets, you could check into that.
