breaks? My car has recently strared to squeal/screach when I break. It's not all the time, mostly when I am in traffic. I assumed I needed break pads, so I had a friend check them, and they are fine. She assumed I have a "hard spot" in the pad. Could this be the cause? What else could it be?

Check if the brake fluid went bad, sometimes if your car sits around for a while the brake fluid seperates, and all the oils in it go to the top, making a squealing noise when you stop, especially in traffic when its stop and go, because its very jotty. ]
Just keep driving if u got it checked out and they said it was fine!

no, the fuckheads at the plant that made them have no concept of quality control. most of the time they add too much iron to the batch and thats why your brakes are squeaking.

I think it may be the brake fluid cuz my mom's car does the same. Ask your friend to check that out. ]
Take it to a mechanic if you don't know someone that can help you. Doesn't necessarily have to be the brake pads. There are other thing's in there that could be rubbing on something. It has fluid in it doesn't it?
Girl's can know about cars without being dykes or whatever nonsense was said earlier. Some of us can even drag race our cars as well as work on them.So don't even listen to that kind of talk.:) ]
My sister's car had this problem too, she took it into the shop and they fixed it. Just take it to the shop, if you got money - then your good! =) Hope i helped ]

dude dont mess with the brakes, even if there is only a remote possibility of a problem, go to a mechanic, the brakes are the most important part of the car, your life depends on them. ]
