Self-Tanner

Question Posted Saturday March 19 2005, 4:33 pm

OKay, I want to put self tanner on my legs and arms, but I have a few questions (just for those who have dont it before...please!)

Is it safe to apply to arms and how do I do it w/o it streaking. Also, if I sweat will it bleed onto my clothes? And are their any other tips?

If I mess up...how do I remove the tanner?

Yes it is completely safe to apply the tanner to arms. You can bascially apply it to ANY place on your body.
To prevent streaking, take a shower before you tan. Or if you cant do that, rinse the area you are going to tan really good. Also, try to get a self tanner with a color detector. It will say on the front of the thing.
If you sweat, it will not bleed onto your clothes. But you should wait atleast 30 minutes to an hour before working out.
Um, watch out for the knees and elbow. When you are doing your knees and elbows, do them LIGHTLY. and wait 15 minutes to get dressed.

Okay =] I haven't done self tanning to myself, and I know you want someone with experience, but I live in a state with cold winters and my friends have, so I do know alot.

You can apply it to your arms, try to do it in perfect motions to prevent streaking. It shouldn't bleed onto your clothes, but if its not a good brand, it might.

Another tip is they have something called a Spray Tan Jet, which I believe is like $30, which is worth it for an even tan. It's like a spray on thing that you can use multiple times over and over [its a machine] that guarantees a perfect tan.

To remove it, you can find removal towellettes at Sephora or your local pharmacy.

HOPE I'VE HELPED ♥

the first time its a bit tricky but after a few practices you will be a pro! try getting your hands on a good quality moose tanning lotion or tanning wipes. the mooses are betterat reducing streekyness. was your skin first and dry thourghly then moisturise your skin because sometimes tanning can dry it out and applying it afterward can cause streeking. apply the tanning the night before you want it so it has the whole night to dry and be absorbed. well it works for me anyway!
hope that helped!

I've tried it, its pretty, but its too much trouble, after a couple tries I decided to just stick to being a snow-flake... It is safe, its more dangerous to breathe air now days that it is to sniff a Lysol bottle(j/k) but you know what I mean, its okay to use it. When you apply it put some on your hand and rub gently into your skin (try to do it evenly on your arms) Goodluck tho because I looked like a brown and white Zebra when I finished. Theres no way to stop streaking sorry to break it to you. If you sweat yeah you'll get brown stuff on your shirt or pants wherever it is you applied it and are sweating. The best tip I can give is to just be natural.

hey ive never done it before and i know u dont want my advice or anythin then but my friend recently tried it and it looked HORRIBLE. I dont know if she just had no idea what she was doing or if it just isnt the right rout to go if you want to look tan. If i where you i would just go to a tanning salon. I wouldnt want to risk a do it yourself tanner. Thats all i know about the topic. I wanna get a tan too so im most likely gonna go to the salon thats the better choice. But you should go ahead and give it a try and if it doesnt work out then you know never to use it again.

-and my friend danielle also did it and she messed up big time and she had streaks down her legs and it wouldnt come off for weeks so she couldnt wear shorts or anything.
