I need some advice. I am 18 and going to move out in the summer with some friends. If you are saying i am too young you dont understand the situation i am in. I dont want to go to college, i will later in life i just cant now. I cannot live in my house any longer and must leave. I just need to know if you have any idea on the costs. I know rent already i just need utility prices. If you have any idea on the prices of utilities for a 2 bedroom trailer please let me know, or any other expenses for the matter. Thank You.

I did the same thing. Let me tell ya, it's hard, but I wouldn't trade those years for anything. I learned how to live on nothing. Utilities depend on where you are located, so I'm not going to even give an estimate. Calling the utility companies and asking what the past bills have been for the previous renters/owners is the best advice I can give you on that. However.....
Not telling you what to do, but here is something to consider. You won't get too far in life without a college education. You will find that out fairly quickly. So before you just write off college until later, I encourage you to look into grants and loans. Now may be a good time to go when you have nothing because government grants and loans are more available to people in a lower income level. I went to a technical school for marketing and received enough grants to cover my bills that I only had to work a few hours a week to make ends meet.
Again, this was a few years ago for me and times have changed, but I wanted to encourage you to at least check it out.

Congratulations on your first place! You don't say where you live. I live in North Carolina. Let's see, for a 2 bedroom trailer, your electric would probably run from 75-125 per month, depending upon how cold or warm you like it. Water runs about 15-20 a month. There's a $100 deposit to get the water hooked up in your name. Phones require a deposit sometimes but they will usually work it into your bill, between $100-200 and then about 20-40 per month depending on the features. Electric requires a deposit up front of about $100-250. (Also, something else to think about...trailers are usually more expensive per month in electric because of insulation.) Then your car maintenance, gas, insurance. Groceries. Cable runs about 35-70 per month. ($70 if you want broadband for the computer)
I know it sounds a little overwhelming, but when moving out, I would say if you are moving with 2 other friends, $500 each would cover you for moving in expenses. Per month, between 3 people, you are looking at about $400-500 in expenses. Hoped this helped. Good luck sweetie.

hammertime answered Tuesday March 15 2005, 7:16 pm: first off your 18,you don't need to be told by me on your right to live where you should live.you are making a big decision and deserve the respect for doing so.the utilities vary, alot of trailers come water furnished, however depending on where you are electricity has a deposit ranging from 150.00 to 250.00. you then have to decide if you want a house phone or just go with your cell.the phone company will bill you and no deposite is required (it will be included in your first bill). then theres cable, every cable company is different, but usually runs 39.00 to 59.00 a month for basic. thats about it besides your food and play money. i hope this helped. good luck and welcome to the ral world. nocturnalkid answered Tuesday March 15 2005, 7:11 pm: I moved out at 18. It's hard, but doable. Utilities can be anywhere from 30-50 each; that means 30 for cable, 50 for electricity, and maybe 40 for gas. Something like that. Don't forget about your phone bill (17$ if you only call locally), your cell (if you have one), car payments/insurance (again, only if you have a car), water (30), and gas (let's say around 35). Food is somewhere in there, but I think that's it. [ nocturnalkid's advice column | Ask nocturnalkid A Question ]
