Question Posted Wednesday February 23 2005, 3:13 pm
I recently signed up for an online DVD rental membership. The envelope seals have been opened on the past 5 DVDs I have recived. Should I contact the rental company, or should I contact to post office, or try to catch my mailman. It's just too much of a coincidence that they have all comed opened. But I am not sure who to talk to. Is someone looking at the movies? I have a locked mailbox.
It's the CIA. They're tracking what movies you;re watching in order to better understand you in order to track you down in a dark alleyway and grill you for eveything you know about Roswell!

They probably opened it to check it. It's getting annoying, the mail people always checking you packages. Contact both just to make sure. I hope I helped! ♥ good luck [ Erinn_the_bamf's advice column | Ask Erinn_the_bamf A Question ]

MFS answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 3:38 pm: Check with your post office. It might be that the packages are actually getting inspected... yay for the Patriot Act! (your DVDs could be terrorists, you know...) I've had several pieces of mail "inspected" for god only knows what reason (pictures from my grandmother were susptected terrorists...)
Seriously, contact the local post office and inform them of the conditions you've found your packages - they might have an explanation, or be able to see if the packages are arriving at their locale already apparently tampered with - they could then forward your concerns to the originating post office location.
It is probably not a bad idea to let the DVD rental place know as well, but as it seems nothing has been stolen, they probably won't care, but it can't hurt to inform them. In fact, they may have received other comments about similar handling from other members. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
Karen answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 3:35 pm: Well, you shouldn't talk to the rental company, since they are the people who seal the envelopes and such. Try contacting the post office at which your package was sent to and tell them that your package was open and that you know that no one would open it, since you have a locked mailbox. I'm guessing that the mailman probably opened your package, since he/she was the last person who touched the package other than yourself. So start talking to someone at a post office and they may help you out.
