If it happens within an hour or so of shaving then it is definitely razorburn!
To minimize getting razorburn you should ALWAYS use a new razor each time, use a aloe vera based shaving oil instead of cream or foam as this coats the skin better and is really soothing also make sure that you always shave in the direction the hair is coming out of otherwise you will get Regrowth rash too which is where the hair cannot get out of the skin and the follicle becomes infected (not pretty!!)
It sounds like you have an awful lot of trouble shaving so why not try waxing - it only hurts for a secon and lasts for much much longer!
rainbowcherrie answered Tuesday February 15 2005, 4:23 am: Yes, it is called razor burn and most people who shave their pubic hairs get it. Use a shaving cream and make sure your razor is sharp as a blunt razor will probably make it worse. Always make sure you are shaving in the direction that the hair grows in as this reduces the red itchiness. Apply a rich body lotion after you shave and twice a day from then on. Karen answered Monday February 14 2005, 8:17 pm: Yes, this is normal. If you don't want it to get red and always itch, start shaving with a good razor, with water, and with shaving cream. Shave in the direction that your hair grows in and put lotion on after you are done shaving. It will help you so the skin won't become red and itchy. Hope I helped :)

XoxBroKeNxoX answered Monday February 14 2005, 7:56 pm: Ahh...razorburn. theres not much you can do about getting rid of that completely, but you can try bikini-touch instead of a razor. theres also bikini zone shavcing cream and after shave stuff to put ion it. okay well heres some things you can try.
*shave with new razor never used
*shaving in the direction of hair growth.
*waxing
*using conditioner instead of shaving cream.
*putting conditioner, special non perfume lotion like cetaphil on after, or dabbing milk on with a cotton ball and wearing boxers
*wear loose clothing after shaving
*get specially formulated shaving cream for razorburn
*put baby oil on when youre done
*donating money to the poor.
Hope i help!!

angieroonie answered Monday February 14 2005, 7:53 pm: yeah it's normal. you shouldn't have shaved in the first place. now if you ever want to grow it again it'll itch like crazy! but yeah, use lots of mosturiser and dont shave against the grain. that makes the hairs ingrown. they arent like leg hairs, they a thicker and stronger and hurt like hell when they're ingrown. so yeah, good luck hun
