I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out last year (I'm 23 now! - old I know!)
I had a general anaesthetic so didn't feel a thing when it was being done!
It was a little uncomfortable when I woke up but if you take Advil Ibuprofen tablets which are an NSAID (Non-Steroid Anti-Inflammatory Drug it will reduce the swelling and stop the discomfort, although I have to admit they only really hurt for the first day.
Make sure you eat loads of soft foods, jelly, ice-cream, yoghurt etc etc
Swilling your mouth out with salt water as well this helps the wonds to heal and will prevent infection.
If your dental surgeon give you anti-biotics make sure you take them all and finish the course.
You will be fine and you will never have to experience the pain of a wisdom tooth abcess or toothache caused by your wisdom teeth!

Take care and let me know how it goes!

Well your gunna look like a faggot. My friend recently had his done and his face blew up like a balloon, looked like he stuffed food in the sides of his cheeks and let it sit there. Lasted him bout 3 days so make sure its not during the week, cuz if it is, I hope you enjoy public humiliation.

ehh im agreeing with everyone here who answers any question I just say I agree with who ever and add on to there answer well here I go again. I recently just got oral surgery done on the 4th. I thought it was gonna be bad and I gotta amitt it was really scary, I didn't feel a thing I didn't even knew he was at the surgery yet I didn't feel one thing, only the needle that's it.

- they just ether give you a shot or have you breath in gas that makes you fall asleep or feel really sleep. when I got the sweet air I almost feel asleep. you dont feel a thing.
- its over in 5-10 minutes
- when you wake up, you still dont feel anything because your mouth'll be numb! you will still be sleepy, and when you try to stand, you will have wobbly legs. The doctor will help you go to the office or a little room with your parent or whoever brought you then you lay down and rest in the office. it feels like 5 minutes.
- then you go home and stuff. when the numb-ness starts to go away, it will feel really weird drinking stuff.
- make sure to get some gauze (though the saliva makes it look like it bleeds a lot when it really isnt anything)
- soon you'll be able to eat solids again (im still working my way threw the solids so far all I really had was chicken as real food.

-need anything else feel free to just drop one in-

i havent had my wisdom teeth pulled, but i have had oral surgery. ok, first they hook you up to i.v. and that stuff. then they just ether give you a shot or have you breath in gas that makes you fall asleep. you dont feel a thing. when you wake up, you still dont feel anything because your mouth'll be numb! you will still be sleepy, and when you try to stand, you will have wobbly legs. The doctor will help you go to this little room with your parent or whoever brought you then you lay down and sleep a little. it feels like 5 minutes, but its really like an hour! then you go home and stuff. when the numb-ness starts to go away, it will be all tingly and when you dink cold water it will be all hot and gross(your mouth will make it seem like the water is hot). Be sure to get some gauze, because it will bleed a lot :( eat soup and ice cream(yay! ice cream! lol) and soon you'll be able to eat solids again. i hope i helped, and dont be so nervous! it will be fine. o, ya! you fall asleep really quickly im talking right after they give you the shot you fall asleep!

Well, the question is, how bad are they? If you teeth are even part-way through the gums and not impacted, it might go relatively slowly. If they are down in there, and impacted into other teeth, they won't be pulled.... they'll be cut out of your jaw... yeah, doesn't exactly sound great does it? But really, you won't be awake for the process, so you won't care at the time.

Recovery varies from person to person. I know someone who was bedridden and wallowed in pain for days. That person was a wuss. I know someone else who came home, ate dinner, and went out to a party. That person is psychotic.

Odds are, you'll be somewhere in the middle - I won't lie, getting teeth removed from your head wil cause some residual pain after the fact. And it will take time to heal - so follow whatever instructions you're given.

And just remember, it'll only be a day or two of discomfort, and you'll likely be totally back to normal.

It's perfectly alright to be scared or nervous about the process - but so long as you have confidence in your doctor, and you know you can deal with it afterwards, you'll be fine.
