I would attend a few church services, or maybe a few services at a temple, even. See if you like them, and then consider converting to christianity.

OMG!!!...I am so sorry if I offend you but, Why are you an athiest!?...There is totally a God!...I'm sooooo sorry....here's what you do think about it real hard and just start askin yourself questions like...how is there a world and stuff like that...then go read parts The Bible and it will make you realize that there IS a God!...BUT do what you think is right...I'm not trying to make you do something you don't want to do =]

Do what you think is right for you. He gave you a choice. If you pursue it...pursue it in baby steps. Take it at your own pace. Find a Bible study to go to. Start at your own pace. No one expects you to be all holy within a week...it takes time. Take all the time you need.

I would go with that person to church. God doesn't care that you have been an atheist. He will forgive you if you turn towards him.
Just try to think about the reasons you think God is who he is and try to find the religion that fits your beliefs. I would go to several churches and hear what they have to say if I had to start from scratch.

Asc answered Wednesday February 9 2005, 3:36 am:
I'm with most of the others. Read up on different religions and try to figure out which you agree with the most. I say that mostly because I disagree with several mainstream Christian beliefs, and also because I was raised Christian and it didn't work out for me. I was never really Atheist because I couldn't honestly say I didn't believe in something (based on personal experience, y'all...), but I think I understand where you're coming from. Although, I'd love to debate your friend's proof - I think that if there was a way to definitively prove god's existance to someone set against the idea everyone would /know/ that he exists, so it wouldn't be a matter of belief.

And ignore the anti-religious asses. They're just as bad as fundie christians. Maybe worse - at least the fundies hand out Chick tracts, which can be entertaining([edit]: google 'chick bible tract').

yes there preatty much has to be a GOD. but is christianity trully right? do your research on other religions first and decide whats right for you. im not even going to try and steer you in the direction of what i think is correct but you should really at least find out the basics of all the religions and then choose. christianity claims to be monotheistic (one GOD) and yet they have a father a son and the holy spirit, as well as a devil which is a rival to GOD. things i have major problems with.

Anarchilist answered Wednesday February 9 2005, 12:19 am:
I usually dont do this, but since I dislike religion very much you can aim me (subzero2o) and we'll talk about it.
I seriouslly think you're making a mistake here. Because I can write my own book and give proof that something I made up in the book exists.

specialk answered Tuesday February 8 2005, 11:42 pm:
If you want to talk, leave one in my inbox because i can give you solid evidential proof as to why God exists and why Theism (Christian belief in one God)is right compared to others such as Deism, Polytheism, Pantheism, Panentheism, Atheists, Agnosticsm, etc. I'm not here to preach, but to give you more solid proof so you can better decide how you feel about Christianity and Atheism. Right now I'd say you're a benign agnostic.. you're not quite sure because you DONT KNOW. The other type of Agnosticsm states that you CANT KNOW; and I don't think that's you just yet. Let me know if I can help.

PEACE
