friend who doesn't go to church

Question Posted Saturday February 5 2005, 11:11 am

Tonight I am going roller skating for the girl scouts. One of my friends who lives in my neighborhood is coming with me. So, I asked my mom if she could sleep over. My mom said yes then she paused. She said the only problem was we are going to church tomorrow and my friend's parents don't like her going to church. One night she was going to come over but once her parents found out we were going to church they forbid her. My friend has only been to chhurch 3 times in her life! It's not fair that she can't go the second her parents find out that my family is going to church. She's the same religon as me so why does it matter? So I'm wondering should I still invite her over? What do I do?

Additional info, added Saturday February 5 2005, 11:49 am:
The reason is her dad had to go to church everyday so now they want their kids going as little as possible.
My mom also doesn't want them to think we're Jesus freaks because we go to church. Even though nobody would think someone's a Jesus freak because they go to church...

If she is your friend than invite her over. With respect to her parents find out if you can drop her off in the morning. It doesn't matter what your family's beliefs are. Just give them the option. If your friend wants to go to church with you I don't see why it's wrong but you still need to respect her parents in their decision even if you disagree with it. Just compromise and spend time with your friend and see if you can work something out.

Well.. is there a way you can take her home before you go to church? Usually church starts around 9:00 am or so.. Why dont you just take her home then go to church. Then it works out both ways

does that mean her dad is a fucked up lunatic?
invite her over, whats the big deal?
and always ask yourself when these problems come up, "what would hitler do?"
then do the exact opposite. unless you're a national socialist.

I know this is probly not what you want to hear, but her parents control her. You might not like the way they do it, but i bet they have reasons! -xo- ali -ox-
