In my house, my siblings have about average grades. Since i was young i have done extremely well. Last year i got a 4.0 through the hole year. Now school is getting very difficult for me but somehow i manage to do okay. It is my freshmen year in high school and i got 4 a's and 2 b's and i wish i could do better. I have a hard time memorizing things so when tests come i bomb them. My family is not what you would call rich, but we arent poor either. my parents would have all 3 of us kids in college at the same time when im a freshmen in college. I want to get a schollarship somewhere but as my dad says, "A's will get you schollarships, b's wont." My question is what are some different ways that all of you memorize the hard facts, expecially in biology and history.
Using memory aid devices helps your memory significantly. Like, you get better at remembering things in general, not just remember things better because you used flash cards to learn them. [ Asc's advice column | Ask Asc A Question ]

orphans answered Monday January 31 2005, 1:51 pm: first of all...let me tell you, depending on the school if you have some b's you'll still be able to get a scholarship, don't worry. but the way i memorize things is i make flashcards, make up a poem or a song that helps you memorize the facts, or think of acronyms to help. one teacher taught us how to do an "interactive notebook" where you write notes on one side of your notebook and then on the other side, draw pictures and things that'll help you remember. also, when a teacher goes over notes in class, use a highlighter so you can remember what the most important facts are. i hope this helps :) [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
MissEmmyBoo answered Monday January 31 2005, 12:07 am: Well I'm gonna tell it like my teacher told one of my friends, "Don't expect to make all As when you go to high school." I am also a freshman in high school and I KNOW it is extremely hard. And from my own experience I've learned that you have to study like 24/7. Now on tips how to study...make note cards, ask a friend to help you study[call out Qs, you answer them], or even ask your teachers if you can come in for extra help. And also be sure to get plenty of rest the day before a test, oh and ALWAYS pay attention in class.
*Hope I helped!*

cheerldrgurl answered Sunday January 30 2005, 10:06 pm: history is a very easy subject to learn. you can think of ways to memorize things withh silly things like woodrow wilson was president in ww1. get it ww in ww1. i know that school can get really hard i had the same problem that you do and im just now starting to get a's again. im not the best at biology though so i can't help you much there. if you have any other questions feel free to ask. hope i helped. redneckstew22 answered Sunday January 30 2005, 9:26 pm: My life's the same way. The way i memorize things is make a game out of it. Like I'm a musican so i make a song out of things i have to memorize. You could just have to make them stick. Another way would be take the first letters of the words and make them into something really stupid that you'll remember. I hope this helps a little.
