Help Me Style
i am wanting to change my look to a more 'ashlee simpson/punky' look without being called a poseur. i am currently into hollister, american eagle, forever 21, abercrombie, and aeropostale. how can i change my style without being too drastic? please help

Why exactly do you want to change your look? Just because it's becoming popular due to Ashlee Simpson? That's asinine.
Wear the clothes you have, don't just go "punk" because it's the in thing to do right now. People like that make me sick, especially when they throw things like "OMG, you're a poser!" and "I'm a REAL punk 'cause I listen to Green Day and dress like Ashlee Simpson, OMG!" around. It's sickening.
I've worn guys shorts, dark colored shirts, and eyeliner my whole life. People used to tell me "Oh, you're such a freak!" all the time. I really didn't care, until the whole "punk" thing started becoming popular and they came up to me asking where I bought my clothes. It's stupid. Just a silly fad.
Next week you'll be wanting to be "gawth."
To sum it all up: Be you, and only you. If you were really "punk," you'd have been wearing "punk" clothes before "punk" became popular.
P.S. Real punk is dead.

WELL..if you truly want to be punk, NEVER NEVER EVER use the phrase "ashlee simpson/punky look" EVER again. She is not in the least punk. If you REALLY want to be punk..you'll have to get rid of the majority of your abercrombie clothes. Forever 21 is ok. Umm..its gonna have to be drastic to go from prep to punk..sorry but thats just how it is. Go into Hot Topic and if youre too "scared" to, youre definitly not ready for true punk-ness. &heart;Rebecca

I dont believe you would end up being a poseur, just dress how you want. Ashlee dresses a lot like normal punk people, so I dont think anyone would connect the two. So just do what you want to do, shop and if you see something cute that you like, buy it. Dont go to far from who you actually are.

Well. Ashlee Simpson isnt 'punky'. Shes more of a tomboy. But about the hole "poseur" thing. I wouldnt care what people think. Just go for it. Dress how you want to dress. Express yourself. Be who you want to be. And if people have a problem. Then thats their problem. They can get over it. Kbye

Easy, you can change your hair style but keep your color to a shorter unique style. (Just to tell you (Ashlee simpson can be quite the girly girl) then you can get your nails done a gray, black, and redish color. you dun need to change ur wordrobe, maybe just make it more punkish.

Well to make that transfer without being too drastic like going from being preppy to the next day being goth (just an example), change things just a little at a time. Like, by some clothes that are more punk, or accessories, and kind of mix them with the style you ahve right now.. make sure it obviously goes tho. also change your make up styles, and stuff liek that too. but as you slowly mix your style with the punk stuff and people get to used to it more and more before you know it you will be more punk - lik, if that makes sense..

Take it all in little steps. Don't go from Hollister into Hot Topic and call yourself a punk. You can go into there and buy something of a small change. But in my opionion you shouldn't believe in labels. You should be what you want to be. If someone calls you a poseur call them a labeler (it gets them everytime in our school).

Do it step by step. Like where a punkish shirt one day, and then next where something your style and the next wear something punkish, and keep adding on to it after that. Like Punk shoes, punk shirt. Good luck.

I hope you arnt changing just because people are doing this at your school. I think you should just be yourself! but if you really want to do this I think you should start wearing a stud belt with your pants..then start to buy some shirts at hottopic like a band T-Shirt and then "gradualy" go on from there..but I think that you should stay the same as you are!!
