Question Posted Saturday January 22 2005, 11:22 pm
I'm really interested in learning to eat more healthy...I am at a good weight right now and I want to stay there, so I'd like to know how I should eat. Fad diets are stupid, they don't last, they don't work. Healthy, well-balanced eating is what you can stick with for life. This may sound a little weird, but I'm not quite sure what healthy eating IS. Like...can someone give a sample menu of a healthy day of eating. Are snacks ok? Like, if you want to maintain your weight, what should you be eating. (I'm a 5'5 female who is 125 pounds.)

It's better to snack when you hungry all through out the day then just eating 3 full meals. If you snack all day and not eating such big meals your body digests it better. Now I'm not saying that you should eat candy and ships for your snacks. Eat healthy. For the snacks go for fruit and veggies. Carrots with ranch to dip, Apples and oranges,(My fave is a tangalo) grapes frozen and rolled in sugar is a great, cool snack when your working out or hot. Drink lots of water, stay away from pop and soda drinks. They aren't good for you.
DO NOT skip breakfast. Have you ever heard those comercials on TV? The ones that say "Breakfast is most immportant meal of the day", well its true. If you skip breakfast and you notice that you don't feel very "Awake" thats the reason. Breakfast gets your body going and if deprive your body of that your body acts slow and tired.
Just eat whay you would normally for breakfast. A bowl of cereal is fine as long as it isn't loaded with sugar. My favorite cereal's are Chex, Crispex (Spelling?), Kashi, mini wheats with the sugar on them and Raison Bran.
Lunch, you would be fine with a sandwich and ships and an apple. You can eat a burger if want too. It won't kill you.
Dinner, what your mom has on the dinner table would be fine. You don't have to deprive your body of things it needs. Such as, the burger has your protien and so on.

FunnyCide answered Saturday January 22 2005, 11:43 pm: This is what a day of healthy eating would be like :
breakfast: milk, orange slices, toast with apple preservitives (not jelly or jam, preservitives are natural and have more nutrients in them)
desert(if you must): a small portion of ice cream or lowfat frozen yogurt with a fruit.
Basically, you should have a balanced diet consisting mainly of fruits, veggies, meat and water/milk. I don't like milk that much, but I drink it because of my enamel defect which causes my teeth to be much weeker. Water is also very important, considering that our bodies need water to live, function, and to be healthy. Exersize is also a key part in the whole healthy eating scheme. I would suggest running for a cardio workout, weight lifting or horseback riding for muscle toning, push ups and sit ups for a combined workout, plus it helps flatten and lenghten your muscles. Good luck, and if you need more help, I can give you a list of websites to visit that will have a more detailed description of healthy eating. (and no, Atkins is not one of the websites! lol)

Wenzie answered Saturday January 22 2005, 11:41 pm: Your best bet is to get the food guide of what your daily recomended intake of various foods are for your age and weight.Google would be an excellent source to find this out, I too am a healthy eater, but its more for the sake of loseing weight which has been sucessful, and making more body mass for myself, if you follow the daily food guide you should be fine.
