I already have both ears pierced but i'd like to
get the part above the lobe pierced, I think it's called the cartilage, just one ear one time. I'll probably get it done at Claire's or something, but I have a couple of questions first: how much does it hurt (like worse than lobes)? Is it more expensive? If any of you have had it done, your experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

XoCraizedCutie answered Thursday January 13 2005, 6:37 pm: i got mine done last year you cant do it at clair's or icing or ne thing un less ur the legal age and have a parent with you because they now call it a "body peircing" or you can just buy a ear peircing gun, that is what my mom did she got it at the mall and she did it to me herself, it hurt like when people hit it or if it gets stuck on something and you tug on it, put it on the side you dont normally sleep on, well unless your getting both done then thats okay but if you do one at a time do it on the other side, dont let it get infected or your ear can get really bad and fold over, not good. but just treat it like a regular ear peircing, just a little more delicate! Karen answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 1:11 pm: It doesn't hurt at all. You just start to get really warm and your ear turns red. It's just like a little pinch and you'll probably say "Oww" even though it doesn't hurt. It's the same price as a regular piercing. All together, I have 8 piercings so I know the pain of getting your cartilage pierced. Hope I helped :)

aNgeLxfOrEvEr answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 1:02 pm: Cartilidge is at the top part of your ear (like the corner). I got mine pierced almost 7 months ago. It hurts more than a regular earlobe piercing, but that's just because it's in the cartilidge part. When I got mine done, it only hurt the second they did it. Then I walked around and it felt fine. The only thing is--it hurts when you are sleeping because you are putting your weight on the top of your ear. So I suggest getting the ear pierced that you don't sleep on. It will hurt less. Also, I would recommend not getting it at Claires. They aren't that great. Try to look around in your mall or a tattoo/piercing place around you. As for the prices: I got mine done at a place where you just pay for the earring and they'll pierce it for you. But it's different at all places and it depends on what kind of earring you get. Mine was $30 and it was just a gold post with a sapphire stone in it. They really aren't that expensive. Good luck ♥ [ aNgeLxfOrEvEr's advice column | Ask aNgeLxfOrEvEr A Question ]

charmed-cherry21 answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 10:48 am: Yes it is called the cartilage. Well when I got mine done my friend got it done with me it was like a friendship ear piercing. When they did mine it didn't hurt. When they did hers it did. But mine got infected because I left the earing that I got it pierced with in too long. Trust me you'll want to change it to like a hoop and it will be fine. Well you have to buy a full set of earings. Like I got mine done at Wal-Mart and it was $8.50 or something like that so my Mom paid $4.25 and my friends Mom paid $4.25. So she got one earring of the set and I got the other. But as far as price goes it is not that expensive. As far as pain goes, it really depends.
xO_Natalie_Ox answered Wednesday January 12 2005, 10:30 am: Yea to answer your first question, it does hurt more then your lobes. If you thought you thought getting your lobes hurt (which I didn't) you iwll think the cartilage is more painful. I believe it's more expensive. You should efintely find out before you go. I got my ears pierced about... 6 times i think and always at Claires. I have heard it isn't the best place but it is cheaper. [ xO_Natalie_Ox's advice column | Ask xO_Natalie_Ox A Question ]
