Ok, so like everytime I try to take a livejournal Icon from some random place it always ends up being saved as bmp. But I can't put bmp files onto my livejournal. How do I change that stupid little bmp to gif or anything else! Please help! Im 14 f thanks..you have NO idea how much it would be a huge thanks. -Adrianna

Clear your cache and try saving the icon again...
Tools > Internet Options > click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files in the General tab

ok when you find a picture you want off the internet or wherever then right click on it and a little menu thingy will come up and on it click on the choice that says "save picture as.." then save it in the section on your computer called "my pictures" then when you go to livejournal.com and you try to edit your picture you can automatically go into "my pictures" on your computer and pick the one you want.

It's a simple thing, actually. Microsoft Windows comes with a program called PAINT that will let you save .BMP files to .JPG or various other formats. You might remember that Livejournal requires a 100x000 pixel format for its pictures. Any larger, and it won't accept them.

you cant save it to wherever your saving it, or maybe what you are saving is not a jpg or a bif. you always have to check your sources!!

get the picture.. open it in a photo editing program.. ie PSP or Photoshop or even Paint.. go to save as then file type and chose JPEG.. then save it a vala.. its a jpeg
