Okay, so some of you may remember me asking a question about going out with a guy 2 days after I broke up with another one. Well, I took that advice and now Ricky and I have been dating upwards of a month.
But lately I've been having second thoughts! Like, everyone I talk to says that we make a weird couple, and I'm starting to agree with them! Like, he's the Great American Redneck (seriously), with almost the entire stereotype of the word! He goes hunting, fishing, drinking, and wears camoflage(sp?) to school, and is in LOVE with country music. He wants to be a mechanic, loves racing and cars. He's like, the complete OPPOSITE of my type. AND he's obsessed with me!
And I'm so much different. I'm the, I guess you could say, rocker chick/goth. I do like country music, but I'd take a good metal/rock song over a country song any day of the week. I can't STAND hunting or camping of any kind, and I will not TOUCH beer. Yes, I'd love to know how to change a tire and possibly fix a few common engine malfunctions, but other than that, I really don't care much about cars. If it runs, GOOD. If it doesn't, OH WELL.
It's not that I don't like him, 'cause I really do. It's just that he's so different from me, and I'm just not sure. I've never dated someone like him. All the guys I've dated have pretty much been "bad boys" or something like that.
My question is, should I stay with him despite our differences? I do like him, but it's just... Strange.
dancinqueen08 answered Friday December 31 2004, 9:54 pm: If you like him, then that's all you need to know. There is that saying that opposites attract, and that is probably why you like him so much. He is so different from you that you are intrigued. If you can't get over how unlikely the relationship is, then you should dump him. Personally, I think you should stay with him because it seems you really like him. If you can't get over what people say, then dump him. I just think you should give the relationship a chance and come to terms with how strange it seems. Sometimes the things that seem the strangest are the best for you. xoRachel answered Friday December 31 2004, 9:53 pm: Stay with him =c). Opposites attract! Who cares if other people think you guys are a weird couple? There aren't any "normal" couples. It's impossible to be normal because nobody is the same so no one can be normal. Yeah so anyway.. stay with him. Just cuz you're opposites it doesn't mean you dont like each other or don't deserve to be together. You do! Stay with him ;c) [ xoRachel's advice column | Ask xoRachel A Question ]

YES! absolutley. if you like this "redneck" guy then nothing should get in the way of that. Like they say "opposites attract". Life is way to short to pass up a chance like this. Dont let what others think mess with your heart. Listen to what your heart says, not your eyes, or your friends. One thing that i have learned to do over the years is look past the outside and INTO others "souls". If you truly like this guy then dont let anything stop you from having a relationship.

sohojules26 answered Friday December 31 2004, 8:06 pm: You won't enjoy being around someone who doesn't have the same, or pretty close to, ideas for the future. He sounds so not your type, and yeah, you should move on. You can't just "Like" somebody for a successful relationship.=) [ sohojules26's advice column | Ask sohojules26 A Question ]
