Question Posted Monday December 20 2004, 11:10 pm

Ok one day I was skateboarding and I turned because my friend called me and the skateboard ran into something and I fell off. I was having pains in my knee after that(I landed on my hands and knees) so I went to the doctor and it turns out I tore ligameants in my knee and have to wear a knee brace for 1 month! I dont know what to do. I skateboard all the time and rollerblade(and play TONS of sports) but now I cant do any of the things I love for a whole month. I hate it. Any ideas on how I could play sports & skateboard again?

Maybe you could go through physical therapy or just work on stretching out your knee. This might make it stronger and heal faster. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

heh I did the exact same thing...
except, I hit a car, twisted my right leg and pulled a ligament. You need to stay off of it as much as you can; don't skate, run or anything like that for, yes, about a month. And don't push your luck, you can make it worse.

You have got to stay off of it to heal. That is just the way it is. You may ask your doctor if you can go swimming. That way you can still get a little exercise without putting too much pressure on the knee. But with torn ligaments, it's serious. I suggest catching up on some DVDS, writing poetry, reading a book, etc. ad naseum.

Sorry but your just gonna have to be tough.. just be glad it's only a month. Keep yourself busy by doing other things.. watch TV, talk on AIM, talk on the phone, go to the movies with your friends, etc. The less stress you put on your knee, the sonner the brace will be off. I know this isnt what you wanted to hear, but its the truth! Sry!

i am sorry, but the only sport i see fit for you at your condition would be golf. my opinion, find another hobby temporarily, paint, write, w/e. but i know this will last a total of 5 minutes a day so just spend more time hanging out with friends and keeping myself busy.
good luck,
