Your dog probably liked having the other dog around because it gave him a companion. So spend more time with him, when you are home and done with homework or whatever bring him for a walk. I know this may soudn weird, but the vet said my aunt's cat has "separtion anxiety" so everyday frum work she calls her house evn tho no1 is home except for the cat and starts talking. This way the cat hears her voice and its comforting. Now if your in school you can't do this but if your parents could, I am serious it works and for my parakeet i leave the radio on when i go to school. So if your dog is home put on the radio or tv it givesyour dog sumthin to listen to even though obviously he won't sit down and watch tv! hoe i helped!

Be greatful you still at least have a dog. Don't be so concerned with what you don't have, and take joy in what you do have. Your dog is not alone, he has you. So give him some extra attention, that will cheer him up.
