okay well i have had the braces for a little less than a year, i think. right now i am wearing the rubber bands that most people wear. i think i will only have to have them for another few months, but has anyone had these rubber bands and how long did u have to wear them?.

It doesn't hurt. They take a pair of pliars and squeeze the bracket and pop it off. That's all. And then they might scrape some gunk off your teeth, and they clean them because you might have white spots, but it doesn't hurt.

I've never had the rubber bands. i have my second round of braces on now. The 1st time was worse then the 2nd time. i had my fist set for 11 months. When i got mine off, they didn't hurt. maybe it was because i was so happy to get them off..lol but it really doesn't hurt. i have a low tolerancy for pain too...but i guess it differs for each person.
Hope i've helped!

Getting your braces off doesn't hurt at all. It feels funny. They basically take pliers and pull them off. It just feels like a tug each time they do it. Afterwards your teeth will feel all funny and slimey. But its great. No big deal. Ahhh the rubber bands...I had to wear those for a while. I hated them. Each person is different with how long they have to wear them. Its to realign your jaw, like ifyou have an over/underbite...so if your jaw moves quickly then you don't have to wear them as long. I hated braces and had them for a little over a year...went through a lot of pain and suffering, but the day they came off it was nothing. No worries, it all pays off in the end. Just make sure you wear your retainer when they're off, you wouldn't want to have to go through the process again. :)

It doesn't hurt, maybe a little uncomfortable with lots of tools in your mouth but there is no pain. Its very satisfying knowing your braces are coming off and you barely notice the discomfort because you are excited about your teeth.

They will feel really really slimey after though.

They kinda like break it off with like pliers and stuff, but it only hurts cuz your teeth has gotten so used to the braces and you know how the teeth are like forced to move straight and stuff and your teeth are finally being let go of the tightness! so yeah! hope i helped!

Karen answered Thursday October 28 2004, 8:31 pm:
Well when they start, they first take off your wires and then your brackets! When they take off your brackets, it'll hurt because they are pulling something off that is glued strongly to your teeth! After they do that, they will then polish your teeth to get the glue off! That's the part where it hurts a lot! My orthodontist polished my teeth wrong so now my teeth are really sensative! When I got my braces removed, it didn't really hurt but then it kind of did lol! The whole process takes about 30 minutes, depending on how they do it! Hope I helped :)

OMG, it so doesn't hurt. I am like the biggest baby ever and it didn't hurt at all! They take these like tooly thingies and like grip the bracets til it kinda pops off. You can't feel it though. They also scrape some of the glue off, but that doesn't hurt either. Your teeth will feel like smoothy though and you'll want to keep running your tounge over 'em but the whole ordeal is basically painfree. Maybe on a scale of 1 to 10 it hurts a 1? but only on the brackets that are really stuck on there. No biggs. Congrats on getting 'em off! :)

I know it doesn't hurt. All you hear is a crack, but it's not your tooth, it's the cement breaking. They sort of take a pliers thing and take it off. it's painless
