Question Posted Sunday October 24 2004, 5:08 pm

i need to get a halloween costume for halloween but my mom wont buy one and she wont take me somewhere to buy one! i don't really want to make my own costume because nobody will help me and i can't do it by myself without it looking really bad! i don't know what to do!! Should i just keep trying to convince my mom? Or make my own, really bad-looking, costume?

Why bother with a costume, be a character out of a film or something. Then you could just wear the clothes you've got, do something with your hair and stuff like that. Good luck!

Last year, my mom was the same way, and I really can't sew. So I just found a short black shirt, a black shirt, a pimpin' hat and knee high boots, threw on some red lipstick (all this stuff I already had in my closet) and went as a hooker. Lol. I looked okay in clothes I already had, so I solved that problem. (That doesn't mean you have to go as a hooker or anything. Lol.) If that's not something you want to do, then keep bothering your mom about it. I for one, would really rather not look bad in something I made myself. (I have no sewing talent whatsoever.)

try going goth or a vampire for a vampire all you need is some fake teeth.

Put on some of your mom's clothes and makeup and tell her, "Look, Mom, I'm going as a joyless, bitchy scrooge!" Maybe not, lol, but I bet you can put together SOMETHING from what you already have. Have you tried asking your friends if they have an old costume you could borrow? What were you last year? Maybe you'll just have to re-hash an old costume to keep from looking cheesy. Go to google.com and type in "cheap homemade costume" and see what comes up. You never know what ideas you'll find.

White blouse, blue jeans with holes in them. Braceltes, as many as you have. Pink, blue, and green hair dye stuff.

Really all you would need to by is the hair stuff. Put your hair in a ponytail, spray part of it pink, part blue, part green. (unless you get other colors) Put on all the bracelets. Put on the jeans and the white blouse. You've just become a punk rocker.

Now tell your mom that you just need a few things, where like the totaly price is under $7, I would say under five, but it'll probably come out to 5 something, or 6 something.

Your mom is obviously trying to hint at you to get a job.

She isn't made of money and she can't always be your financial aid, so you have to start working yourself if you want to buy things you WANT.

Don't bother trying to convince her. She'll just become extremely irritated and wonder why you're still not getting the point.

Mom's are not bank machines. I do suggest looking at grocery stores. They will hire just about anyone, including those with no experience. You'll enjoy your life more when you get your OWN paycheque and you can learn to save, so when the time comes for you to move out, you won't have to struggle like most people do. :)

Why don't you start making your own costume, but keep bugging your mom. Don't let her know your making one because then she will say no because you already started on your costume. But if she says no then you will have a costume that you made.=]

Hmm... well first of all I wouldn't take that girl's advice with the net. YOu have to use a credit card and that would mean either using you own which could lead to identity theft or your moms which wouldn't make her very happy now would it? So I would say maybe be a charachter from a movie or something that would wear every day clothes or ask you friends i fyou can borrow some clothes like a cheerleading outfit or a jersey.

I hope this answered your question, feel free to rate and drop one in my inbox,

Caitlin

Hey,

Well there is always the internet. Try finding a cute costume and make sure that it will get here before Halloween and make sure that you have the money to pay for it. Still try to convince your mom though(just in case the internet option doesn't work out)And good luck*

Sherry answered Sunday October 24 2004, 5:35 pm:
Well you could figure out who you want to be and try to use some of your clothes and accessiories to do the costume. Like I'm being a mean girl so Imma wear a tank top and a skirt and wear makeup and all..you know? But you could just do chores and get money that way and buy a costume. Or babysit or something..
