Mercy_x_Me answered Friday October 15 2004, 2:52 pm: Well, I'm not familiar with English Pounds, quite sorry for putting it in American Dollars, but I better answer incase others don't.
Lets see ....... if your younger i'd say 12-14, only charge $5-6 USD, and also if there's less kids.
Now if you're 12-14 and there's three or more children, charge 7-8 USD.
And if your 15 up, I'd say just charge 10 dollars an hour. People are usually much more willing to pay older people more money because it's just how things go.
Good luck finding info, sry for not getting it into English Pounds. :-( .............
MFS answered Friday October 15 2004, 2:45 pm: If you have friends who also babysit, I'd check with them on the rates they ask. Sometimes, you'll want an hourly figure, other times, you'll find it better to offer a bulk price for a whole night. Keep in mind that smaller children can be more difficult to take care of than older ones, so that is a good basis to ask a little more for infants and toddlers. Likewise, the number of children you're watching is a factor to consider.
I would suggest some prices and convert from USD to Pounds, but the thing is, it really depends on your neighborhood. Some areas pay a lot more than others, so I have difficulty giving you some generic flat rates.
I can say that my wife and I have payed $40 USD for 4 hours out on a Friday for someone babysitting our 2 boys, who were 1 and 3 at the time. Take that as you will ;) [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
