I think you would rather be happy with your decision to study music, rather than not looking foward to going to study history everyday. Go with what you want to do and not what your parents want. Would you like to be able to recite the exact date for every important decisive military battle in the last 3 millenia, or would you rather enjoy learning a few instruments and musical theory in general? Personally, I'd go for the music. Especially since I'm a DDR player. I read the screen the same way I used to read sheet music; I can divide the notes in quarters, eighths, twelfths, sixteenths, and thirty-seconds easily. My experience in band from middle school and freshman year has molded me into a drummer. I don't play much, but when I do, it sounds good.
