Question Posted Tuesday September 28 2004, 9:33 pm
Okay, so I only just turned 13, and I want to become a professional singer.
I've always wanted to be one. Now I want to be one so bad I'll do anything. After seeing JoJo become a singer and she's only 13, I think I could do it too.
What I need to know is where I can go to shove my singing career off the ground. I've had private lessons on singing, and the only problem is I have stage fright of singing infront of people.
I just need to know 2 things. Places I can take my singing career further, and how to overcome my fear.
Thanks!

Night.mare answered Thursday September 30 2004, 1:34 pm: I'm 14 and also focused on a career as a singer. And really, you don't want to become a singer at such a young age, the spotlight is going to fade sooner than if you are older. The only way I have found to get over stagefright is to focus on something in the audience and sing to that, it might be a stair or railing, I don't like to focus on a person lol, but that might help. If you aren't in a vocal music class at your school, you should really get in that! Not only do they have concerts, but you really build your voice. Good luck honey, I hope you get over your fear and get the career you want ^-^ -Holly [ Night.mare's advice column | Ask Night.mare A Question ]
x0laura0x answered Wednesday September 29 2004, 4:24 pm: ok. first ask your vocal teacher if she thinks your ready to move on.. like pagents contests plays or whatever.. try out for ur school play.. like i know especially if u have stage fright its hard to sing but if u really try you can do it. every famous singer has messed up at least once in their career.. so what u mess up once.. you will be fine.. messing up only makes u stronger.. i say go for it and fufill your dream.. practice practice practice!!! =D .. <3 laura [ x0laura0x's advice column | Ask x0laura0x A Question ]

Fake ass
Facial reconstruction
Bad voice.
There, thats all you need, nobody wants to hear anyone sing anymore, they just want to see 13 year olds that look like 25 years olds so they dont feel bad about being pedophiles.
Also I suggest you try for something a tiny bit more practical. [ Anarchilist's advice column | Ask Anarchilist A Question ]

Riggzy answered Wednesday September 29 2004, 2:18 am: Well.... I DID think JoJo looked godawfully young! Wow. Anyways, about your career, I can only say keep at it, be in as many choirs and choruses as you can get into during high school, study music theory in college, and go to auditions when you hear about them. So what if you don't end up raking in majillions of dollars as a pop singer? You'll be a TRUE musician and you'll rock everyone's socks RIGHT OFF. About your fear, I would try practicing in the bathroom and in the shower, and just forcing myself to do things in public, like standing up on a park bench and singing "I'm a Little Teapot". Trust me, once you can do the stupid silly stuff, the nerve-wracking stuff will melt away. [ Riggzy's advice column | Ask Riggzy A Question ]
Edit: did you even read the link I gave you? It's the same question, wording and all. You probably could have read those answers, but thanks for the 1 anyways. [ Notso's advice column | Ask Notso A Question ]
