new house, new people

Question Posted Thursday September 23 2004, 11:37 pm

For four years I have lived in my house thats like seculded. No neighbors, and Its really private. Well now were moving into this well rich community. Its kindof stepford wive-ish. Where all the people that live there get together and have fashion shows, partys etc. It sounds pretty fun but kinda stupid too. I mean there is a Hoedown coming up in October, and since were new my older siter wants to go. I know it would be a good place to meet people, but a hoedown? Like I think old people are gonna go haha. I'm just wondering, should I go? Also since this is a rich community, I think that the people living there are kinda snotty stuck up rich people. And my family is soo not like that. So what I'm asking is, should I get involved in the stuff? I dont know..My family doesn't like to get involved much..Thanks

Okay, so a hoedown does sound kinda stupid (haha). But if your family doesn't like to get involved, then you need to get out of that habit. Since you have moved, this is a new chance to meet new people and make a good first impression. My advice on this one is to go to the Hoedown. Not to square dance, but to meet new people. Just grab a pair of blue jeans and put some braids in your hair (if you're a teenage girl!) and smile, be friendly, and try to have fun! You never know who you might meet there! But if you're not having good luck there, you can go home. At least you tried :) But still go to community events, incase people your age are there, so you can socialize! Good luck, hunny :)

You should automatically assume that since people are rich they're snobby. Just like they shouldn't automatically assume because you're NOT rich you're nice.

Give these people a chance and go to the hoedown no matter how stupid you might think it is.

Try it once, if you don't enjoy yourself then just don't go again. In my experience, it's good to try new things.
