Ok, well this guy and I just started going out. I like him so much and he likes me too obviously. Well we've only been going out for a day. Today at school I acted all weird. I mean I like him a lot but he makes me shy. I didn't talk to him much and tried to avoid him a little. I really want us to work out as a couple. What do you guys think I should do in order to not be shy and talk to him and such. I have had boyfriends so its not like I'm stupid, this guy just makes me shy like no other boyfriend has. Thanks :)

~*Annie*~ answered Wednesday September 15 2004, 10:34 pm: Awww, that's sweet! lol. It seems to me that you both have really strong feelings for each other. You probably like him a lot more than your previous boyfriends. Just talk to him and smile (but not one of those creepy smiles lol) and try to relax around him. Shyness is pretty much ALWAYS mistaken for unfriendliness, so if you're shy around him and avoid him regularly, then he'll think you don't like him anymore. Everytime you go to see him, just deeply inhale and exhale and count to ten to calm down. Talk about what you guys had for homework, about your crazy math teacher, give him a compliment, anything! And maybe he's a little shy around you or intimidated around you, so make sure that you're super friendly and welcoming to him as well. :) [ ~*Annie*~'s advice column | Ask ~*Annie*~ A Question ]

MoonFisher answered Wednesday September 15 2004, 5:18 pm: You need to break the ice and get more comfortable with him. The best way to do that is hang out in a large group of mutual friends and go do something fun. When you have friends around, that weird pressure you feel will diminish and you'll be more at ease to get to know one another. I remember with my first boyfriend, there was a constant terror of getting kissed and such. That threat isn't as looming in a group atmosphere. But after a while you get used to being around him.. and talk more..But when you're around him, just talk about anything you can think of..I'm sure he wont mind =) Good luck [ XBarbieGurl2008X's advice column | Ask XBarbieGurl2008X A Question ]
rainbowcherrie answered Wednesday September 15 2004, 4:20 pm: awwww I have that problem! It's only cause you like him so much and you don't want to do anything that might put him off! There's really no instant cure, you just have to give it some time. After a while the novelty of a new bf will wear off and you'll become more relaxed. Just act like he's one of your regular friends and I swear it'll work out ok! [ rainbowcherrie's advice column | Ask rainbowcherrie A Question ]
AskMegan answered Wednesday September 15 2004, 4:04 pm: The reason this boy is making you nervous, is because you like him SO much, What you should do, is calm yourself down around him, Strike up an easy conversation, be flirty and fun. I was shy around my boyfriend to. We've been dateing for over a week, and i'm totally comfortable around him. Don't worry, it'll take a little time, but soon enough, you'll get used to haveing him around, and won't be so shy anymore.
