EmbracedxRain answered Tuesday August 17 2004, 7:26 pm: Toxic Shock Syndrome. You can get it from using tampons. I did a little research online for it and here are some things that can happen :
What Happens
TSS symptoms can rapidly affect several different organ systems, including the lungs, kidneys, and liver. The sunburnlike rash that may occur early in the illness is often followed 7 to 14 days later by scaling, peeling skin, especially on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.
Serious life-threatening complications of TSS include:
Shock.
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
Kidney failure.
Recurrent episodes of menstrual TSS may cause ongoing symptoms, such as memory loss, rashes, bluish fingers and toes, or an increase in allergies.
Children are less likely than adults to develop the more serious complications of TSS.
If you want to know more about TSS do an online search by typing in "Toxic Shock Syndrome Information" You should find plenty of results.
