vaginal irretation

Question Posted Wednesday August 11 2004, 2:06 am

I chose the IUD for birth control. I haven't had sexual intercorse for more than 4 months, but I feel irretation and burning inside of my vagina like I'm always hot below. There's no discharge or odor. My pap came back normal in July 04 and my IUD is in the correct place. I thought it could have been a yeast infection so I used 3 day monostat cream. I was fine for a few days, then it was back. Can you help me find a answer to this question?

Go to the doctor. It's the only way you'll know for sure.

I would seek a health professional. Sometimes you get itching with another infection called bacteriosis. This infection left untreated could make you sterile. Also, the IUD itself is designed to irritate the vagina to keep an egg from attaching. You might just need a break from it or something. Please see a dr. or gynecologist.

I can help you find a person who can actually answer your question - your doctor. S/he will be able to examine you, listen to your symptoms, and be able to offer the best advice.

Don't treat yourself as if you have a yeast infection anymore - if this WAS a yeast infection there would have been discharge and odor, and the Monostat would have gotten rid of it.

The only person who can help is someone who can look inside your vagina, offer actual medical advice, and help you find a comfortable solution.

Keep using the Monostat, its entirely possible that you're have an allergic reaction to the IUD. It can happen believe it or not. Maybe you should try a different form of birth control. But yea, get rid of the IUD and look into other means of birth control, find one that's right for you. Use the Monostat as needed. That's all I can offer, I'm not an expert on the subject, but I have done my home work on anatomy, and allergies. Try my advice if it doesn't work then see a doctor about the irritation. Good luck.
