I watched Donnie Darko for the first time today, and I had a hard time "getting" it. I read through various websites, and I'm still struggling. I feel so stupid asking this, but could somebody relay it back to me in layman's terms? I might just have to watch it again, but oh well...
laura_xo answered Monday August 9 2004, 4:59 pm: Hey. The movie is about this kid who sees things and he gets a chance to go back in time. But he decides to be killed because it was destiny and all the things that would happen like his girlfriend dying and him shooting someone would probably happen all over again. I hope I helped .. drop one in the inbox if you want. <3 Laura

kevin1986 answered Monday August 9 2004, 8:50 am: Ok,you remember the crash in Donnie's room right that he avoided? Well, basically he was shown what would've happened if he had indeed avoided it. His girl would've died and everything else you seen in the movie. He loves her so much that he'd rather die himself and have her not know him than watch her die and feel that pain. It's a great movie, the best from Jake Gyllenhaal. [ kevin1986's advice column | Ask kevin1986 A Question ]
