I don't know if he "asked you out" on the spot, but perhaps he was hinting that that's what he wants to do?
Or he could just be saying "let's hang out sometime." Or "Let's have sex." I think there are a lot of different meanings that guys have for let's hook up.
So my advice is to just hang out with him and get to know him and then maybe he'll ask you out really soon.
