please help me soon, please

my best friends parents got devorced about a year ago, and ever since then he has gone into a distructive pattern, he cut himself, smoked pot, and drank, he did all of this to try to dampen the pain. is there anything i can do to get him to stop those and actually help him?

MY FRIEND IS DOING THE SAMETHING AND WAT I DO IS I TOLD MY PARENTS AND IV TRY TO STAY WITH HER MOST OF THE TIME AND I WOULD GO TO HTE FATHER AND TELL HIM TO GO TO LIKE A REST ORONT OR SOMTHING AND THAT IT WOULD BE UNDER MY NAME AND THEN TELL THE MOTHER TO GO TO THE SAME RESTERANT AND THE NAME WOULD BE UNDER MY NAME AND I WOULD SIT WIT THEM AND I WOUD TELL THEM WAT HE HAS BEEN DOING TO HIMSELF.AND TELL THEM THAT HE IS YOUR BVEST FIREND AND DONT WANT HIM TO GET HERT AND THAT IF HE DIES THEN ITS ALL THERE FALT B/C THEY DIDNT DO ANY THING ABOUT IT.

Tell him that its not the way to go and hide his pain of what happened in his household.Tell him that if he needs to get somethings off his chest or to just talk to someone that he can come to you.

Are either of his parents aware of what he's doing to himself? This is not a situation you should try to fix - all you can do is hope to be a catalyst to bring about some change - either talk to his one or both of his parents, or some other adult authority figure. He needs help, likely in the form of some therapy/counselling.

i think maybe you should get somebody for him to talk to to help him out with his problems. i had a friend that started to cut herself and that she was depressed and she did it to dampen tha pain too. she talked to somebody and it helped her out and now shes a lot better than be4. try gettin him ta talk to someone that'll listen ta him and ta help him.
