captainsafety answered Tuesday July 27 2004, 11:53 am: Ok, simple answer. Has anyone ever told you that in case of "stage fright" think of something else? Well if not I will. If you get up to the starting blocks and you can't get your mind off the crowd it might be because your proud to be there. So, just try to not think of where you are. Like try to amagine yourself back at you school running track there. Or think of one of your favorite bands or songs or person. It helps to get your mind off of where you are at times. queenbee answered Tuesday July 27 2004, 11:53 am: I had that problem whenever I was getting ready for a big game or even addressing a large crowd. It is just a type of performance anxiety. What I used to do was to go to a quiet place before the event and picture myself accomplishing whatever the goal was, for you; visualize the race from beginning to end, all the while taking slow even breaths. When you get to the actual meet think about crossing the finish line and your breathing. Focusing on your breathing helps keep you @ ease and focusing on winning will keep your mind in the right place. Good luck! [ queenbee's advice column | Ask queenbee A Question ]
