Mating I have a male Australian terrier .last week i got a female in heat so as to mate but when i put them in the kennel together they refused to. Eventually i released them letting them get to know each other but again as my dog tried to get on her back the female sat down and refused to get up. What did i do wrong or if it is not me what could be the reason for this?

Well i have a beagle and she recently had puppies and with her and her spouse it took them FOREVER they were just playing together then on the last day of her heat she started humping teddy bears and the boy kept pacing at the door so finally we let them be together and it Happened (my parents say that one moment in there heat the male will smell it and sense it and she will eventually let him do his business) the female doesnt know whats going on!!! give them a while.....

give the female time, she may not be used to the dog yet, it takes a little while to get used to each other! sometimes it just doesnt work out, but if they fight, try to keep them in seperate rooms! the female might not find the male dog suitable mate for her! if that happens dont worry about it! have fun!
Hope i helped! if ya need anything else drop it in the inbox!!

When my family first started mating dogs we had the same problem. We later found out that the female was a little too young to mate. So we waited and after a while when they got used to eachother they mated and lived happily ever after. (not really) lol
Hope im helpfull* ]
Let the dogs get to know eachother. Let them spend sometime alone, so they have some privacy. I don't actually know if this will work, but it's worth a shot. Give them equal attention, and give them alot of alone time. After about a week, try it again, if it still doesn't work, maybe they just don't like eachother.
Hope I helped!!!

you cant force the dogs to mate, im not an expert on this but my 11 year old sister is so i asked her and she said that maybe they dont like eachother, she doesn't think that its anything you can to but you shouldn't try to force them into anything which was probably your biggest mistake, i hope i helped and good luck with your terriers! -Anqel ]
well...
either just give them some time together, or... they <could} be homosexual (gay or lesbian) ]
well it could be they have no natural chemistry..they do tend to have some human like qualities..if there is no feelings b/t the 2 they arent going to do anything..so just let them spend more time together if that doesnt work they just dont connect.
