Organization...tips?

Question Posted Saturday July 24 2004, 5:03 am

I'm going into high school, and I'm a smart person (3.75 gpa) But VERY disorganized, I've gotten 2.6's on my report cards because I'll do assignments, then lose them, or procrastinate on projects. And I'm so afraid that's going to happen in high school, because I know how important high school is, and the college I want to go to is out of state and a VERY hard school to get into, and the other one, though not as hard is still out of state (I refuse to go to college in this state, I hate it here) and my only chance is probably a scholarship because it's just me and mom so there's not a lot of money.

I just need tips to help my organization skills, because I'll have a lot of sports and other things going on, and I know that I really need to get it together soon. And advice would be lovely.

First of all.. Get for example ( 6 classes, get 6 folders) and on the front of them name a class on each one thta you have, then get a notebook. And write down your homework in every class and the books that you need, then at the end of the day go to your locker and double check your notebook (where you put down your homework) grab the books you need then put them in a book bag go home and do your homework, but for each homework page or whatever that you do put what ever subject of homework that you are doing in that folder, it makes things sooo much easier! Keep an agenda for sports too! don't forget!

Best wishes...

dear organization,
first start with your binder. clean and organize that. any old papers throw them away. then get folders for every subject. and lable them. one side for the unfinshed homework and one for the finished homework. then your backpack. keep it clean. clean it out every friday. throw away all old papers. DO NOT put your papers or homework or notes or anything in your books. keep your locker organized. no junk or anything. just your backpack, books, and your binder, oh and your coat. clean your locker out every friday after school or whenever you have a free period. if you need any thing else just ask. hope i helped!

Omg you seriously just described me in every single thing you said. I however have been in highschool. Mainly I'm thinking the big problem is procrastination, that's mine. When you think about doing a big thing you get lazy and just compeltly don't want to do it... I know how that goes. But for the procrastination part try to think about doing it in small amounts. For instance, if you have a project due in two weeks. Do something like... research all the information one day, then within two days start laying out your project.. then decorate in another few days. It'll make things much easier. But then the disoranized part, I don't know what to say, I'm the exact same way, a planner type thing really did help me, but then I got too lazy to write in it..(procrastination) I think you should get rid of how you procrastinate first, then move on to being more orginized after that. But a short story.. while I was in Jr. High my GPA had to have been around yours, once I got in highschool I did the exact same thing that I did in Jr. High... I failed 2nd semester of algebra..which was rediculous cause I knew it all and make an 86 avg. the first semester, and it caused my GPA to go down to a 2.7. Basically you definatly have to work harder in highschool. But I hope you do find a way to fix the problem, it'll become a huge issue if you don't!

well for starters for your homework and stuff, you could get an agenda and make sure you write EVERYTHING in it.. and every night before you go to bed just make sure you have all your homework and stuff done.. that should help with homework! for schoolwork-try not to be too messy.. keep all your work some place at home like a drawer or something.. that way if you lose something you know its there.. also when your odne with your homework just put it in your backpack! hope this helps
