the tank should be big enough for them to swim in and grow in (find out how big they get by doing research!) if its a big turtle about the size of a dinner plate, get a child waiding pool for them (the plastic ones =D) and put fencing (chicken wire) around it so they dont get out! have fun!
Hope i helped! if ya need anything else drop it in the inbox!!

Hey i have 2 full grown red eared sliders and a Map turtle...I started with a 10 gallon but soon realized they grow really fast!! lol so i got a 30 gallon and they outgrew that too my turtles grow from 8-12 inches long so now i have a 90 gallon tank...they love it also i have a clamp light with a 150 watt full spectrum light and a custom made ramp because believe me they outgrow the ones you buy at the pet store-they also have a big piece of driftwood in the center to hold on too so they can breath, the tank is full of water b/c they love to swim in deep water. i recomend getting a filter that is atleast 20 gallons over what your tank is and feeding them in a seperate area to cut down on waste materials..I love turtles and if u need any help let me know ive kept turtles and these ones since i was 5 years old so if i can help let me know!!! ]
I had 2 baby turtles too and I had mine for about a year and I cleaned their tank like every day to every other day so it wouldnt get smelly...I had a big rock and a light too Their tank wasnt that big but when they get bigger I would get them a bigger tank because I had to put mine in the pond behind my house because they did not have room to swim....

Hey! I'm not so sure I can provide you with a lot of useful information, but I'll sure try. I went through two turtles in one day. It was my 13th birthday. I got the first turtle from my friend as a gift. It was a land turtle. I had him in a sort of big plastic container [without a lid]. It was about 5" high, 18" in width, and 26" in length. I just put little pebbles on the bottom and a big flat rock for him to easily lay on. He died that same day I got him though. I believe this was because my friend thought he was sick when she gave him to me [She could no longer keep him, and she knew I loved him. She was suspecting it was ill for a while now] That's why I think that one died. Then I was upset over the horrific loss, so my Mom took me out and bought me a TINY water turtle from a local pet store. His back was about 1" by 1" - he was really cute!! I stored him in the same container. I cleaned it out really well, and filled it up with water. He died a few hours later. I'm not sure why this is, and to this day have no idea why. The only reason I could think of is that the water temperature might have went up or down, causing it's death, but I have no clue. [I'm horrible with animals!! I'm surprised my dog is still kickin'! I've had her for almost three years now!!] Anyways, goodluck with your new friends!! =D Sorrie I couldn't be of more help! ]
Well we had our turtle outside, we made like a little pond type thing for it and when it got too big we let it go but i dunno... we fed it minnows and stuff ]
