Question Posted Tuesday July 20 2004, 9:13 pm

Okay, I just turned 16 a month ago and I have found myself to be interested in this girl who lives down my street. The problem is she is 14 (two grades below me), she goes to a different school, and her older brother is in the grade above me. On top of that her older brother used to be my best friend, and I know the family from back when I was his best friend. We are both afraid to do anything above being friends because of this situation we are in. Any suggestions?

IF you know the family, it can't be that bad. Telephones are great for this situation. Age is only going to be a problem if you are 19 and she is 17 (depending on the state). And if you aren't doing anything naughty that shouldn't be a problem either. After a while, age won't matter at all. My boyfriend is 37 and I am 32 and I love him to pieces.

I think you two are worrying too much about this. 2 years isn't long too long at all, and maybe it's a good thing that you know her family so well. You used to be best friends with her brother, so I'm sure he trusts you. The only problem I see is that you 2 go to different schools, which isn't too big of a problem at all. If I were you, I'd go for it. Unless there's something else holding you back.

dont worry about the age...age is just a very unimportant number...you can love someone of any age so dont let that get in your way!! talk to your friend about how you feel about his sister...good luck!
