TiNKERBELLxo answered Tuesday July 20 2004, 9:38 am: Okay, I found this in the HELP sections. The Frown face is a Low Quality - Not a great question. Either really long or really short, with spelling errors, and it's been asked 50,000 times already.
The slight frown is a Medium Quality - Okay, but should be a featured question because it's not really that good or it contains sexual references (the main page must be kept PG-rated, if you know what I mean)
and the smiley face is a High Quality - Somewhat decent question that people will like answering. Most of the words are spelled right and we can show it on the main page without being embarrassed. <33 [ TiNKERBELLxo's advice column | Ask TiNKERBELLxo A Question ]
lynx_wings answered Tuesday July 20 2004, 3:17 am: The question quality. Good questions are smiley faces, bad questions are sad faces, the in-between faces are just that.
When there is no face, and just a circle, it means that question has not been rated.
Lizzy answered Tuesday July 20 2004, 1:56 am: They are sort of like ratings of the people asking the question, whether it is good, bad, whatever. I kind of find them a little retarded in a way, but i guess it works for some people

MFS answered Monday July 19 2004, 11:58 pm: Those are the ratings for the questions... a frown means the question is bad, a flat-line face is "ok", and a smile is a good question. If enough people hit a question with frowns, the question is hidden. Only ones with a smile can be featured on the main page.
