There's not really a "right" time .. and it's not necessary .. some people would rather shave, and some would rather not. Buuut, if you're joining the swim team, it might be a good idea to shave [[ if you don't want to shave all of it, at least shave what could end up showing ]]. If you do decide to, make sure to use shaving cream / gel + a fairly new razor, and shave in the direction that the hair grows, because it'll decrease the chances of it becoming irritated.

If its just for swimming, I guess you can just shave what shows in your suit. It really isn't necessary, but if you feel more comfortable this way than that is better than just ignoring it and feeling bad about yourself. As far as the "age range", it's whenever you decide you want to.

You can start whenever you want to, its really best to shave whenever you have alot of hair and especially when you start swimming! It's so unattractive and just plain sick when you see womens bikini line in their swimsuit!! Good luck!!

Just shave the bikini line. It's not necessary to shave the whole thing. Waxing is a better option anyway, because that way you won't get red bumpy ingrown hairs.

Not an awkward question at all!! =) There is no certain time to start shaving down there. But maybe you should try this summer, just to sort of get used to it and everything. Seriously though, choose a time whenever you want. It's up to you!! Okay, well good luck on the swim team! By the way, I LOVE SWIMMING TOO!!! Love you -Mandee
