i've wrestled with this type of question before and here is what i think.. first i say you should talk to your friend and see how she feels. explain to her exactly how you feel and if she isnt ok with it then i wouldnt go for the guy. a friend last forever but guys just come and go... if that friend is truely a friend then it should always be friends before boyfriends. but if she doesnt mind make sure you take some time before hooking up with the guy that way its not so painful. and if you do get together dont talk constantly about him to her because its gonna hurt her. i hope i helped...

well if youre good friends with this girl, i dont know if its a good idea. because if this kid is as fickle as im thinking he is, he might change his mind about you as he did with her. and this girl doesnt need anything else to worry about with her family problems and all. good luck. *Dakota

You'll lose someone either way. This girl is going through a lot it sounds, and getting dumped won't improve her situation. It sounds impossible to have both. But since he wants to break up with her anyway, it's not really fair to either of them to keep the relationship going. It sounds like you like this guy a lot, so I'd probably go for it. But I'd wait a little while in hopes that things go better for the girl he's about to dump.

well either way you're going to hurt someone aren't you? i know it's hard but you have to make a choice. what would you rather have? a good friend who might last for ever or a boyfriend who might not last til next month? i know which one i'd rather have. look at it this way, if this guy can stop wanting this girl so easily, what's there to say he wont do the same to you? good luck, RC.
