As for the part about telling your mum , its all up to you to decide if you want to tell her or not . =)
Actually , even though tampons are slightly uncomfortable when you first start using them ,they are more convenient , and will not show if you are wearing jeans or whatever . This can happen if you are wearing a normal pad , and the outline of the pad will show if you are wearing a skirt or jeans , unless you are wearing the ultra slim type . Remember not to buy the huge tampons , buy those slim ones for teens ... =)

I agree with the person who said tampons leak. I tried them a few times, and just never felt comfortable. I don't like the idea of putting something in my body that might not be safe. TSS is probably not that common, but why risk it? If you want to go swimming, you can just wait until you are off your period, no biggie. I like the ultra-thin pads they make now. They are comfortable, and not bulky. You won't feel so self-consious, because you won't feel like you are wearing a diaper. Talk to your mom about why she prefers pads, and why she prefers you wear them too. She may just be worried about TSS as well. There are some people that think using tampons makes you not a virgin anymore. I had a friend that thought that. I think it's ridiculous. I'm not saying your mom thinks that, but maybe she thinks that tampons are too grown-up and she's having a hard time dealing with the fact that you have reached puberty. It's hard letting go of your "little girl". Whatever her reasons, I'm sure they are valid, and if it's really that important to you, she may change her mind. Take care, and enjoy being a girl, despite the "curse" (just kidding).

Just ask her if she'll buy you some. Tampons are wonderful. I hate pads, so I feel for ya. YOu can always ask a friend for some.

Well you can always just walk to store near your house and grab some tampons on your own. But, you should definitely talk to your mom about this. She may have some good advice or reasons why she doesnt think you should be using tampons. Or maybe, its only a personal choice for her not to use them and she wont have a problem if you use them. Talk to her and see what she has to say.

Word to the wise though. Never go without changing a tampon for more than 3 hours. Read all the labels and instructions on the box, don't be afraid of them - just be informed. You dont want to hurt yourself and or have something happen to you as a result. Tampons have been related to toxic shock syndrome which unfortunately I dont know a great deal about, it does give you information about toxic shock syndrome on the side of a tampon box however, you should look it up on www.google.com so that you learn more.

Talk to your mom, she has experience and will be able to help you out with this I am sure of it.

Wats up,
Tampons arent everything, on the commercials they make them like they are everything. They are alright when u go swimming, but with a pad u can hold for bout 5 or 6 hours but u have to change your tampon every hour or you will leak.

Tampons are sometimes for adults. I donno why but that's the way it is I guess. Maybe it's easier if you use pads. Periods aren't that great and trust I know. You may not like your periood but sometimes you gotta deal with it no matter how much you hate it.

talk to your mom. maybe she has a good reason for not letting you use tampons. maybe if you approach her maturely, she'll let you. and even if she doesn't, it will earn you major respaect if you are mature.
