How do I lose weight when I work in a pizza place?

I work there 3 days a week, and I get free meals, so I eat there rather than spend money somewhere else. I get tired of eating only salad, but when I do, I bring my own fat-free dressing from home. Sometimes, I add ham to my salad. On days when I work a long day, I get a lunch, so I get a personal size pizza with light cheese and vegatables only or ham or chicken and veggies. Is this ok to eat 3x's a week, or should I start bringing my own food from home? If so, what should I bring? There is a microwave there, but no place for me to eat but the main dining room, and I feel funny eating food that isn't from there in front of the customers. They also have sandwiches (chicken, ham or turkey with cheese and ranch dressing on them) So when I get one of those, I get light cheese and no dressing, and put my own fat-free dressing on them. The bread is like a french roll. I want to lose 30 lbs. Any advice?
sp4rklingr4in answered Monday April 19 2004, 11:24 pm: You shouldn't eat pizza 3 times a week, especially if it's greasy pizza. Try bringing in fruits and veggies to work. Reduce your intake of bread and red meat in your diet and eat nuts, chicken and cereal instead. Bread is just like eating sugar and red meat has too many single carbon bonded lipids (very unhealthy); however, dieting alone won't reduce your weight in a healthy manner. You also have to exercise. Get into a daily routine: jog in the morning, try some recreational sports, etc. I hope you achieve your goal in losing weight, but remember not to over do it!
GC_rox_my_sox answered Monday April 19 2004, 3:38 pm: It's not ok to eat pizza 3 times a week. You should only eat pizza about twice a month. Bring your lunch with you most of the time. If you want to eat pizza, pat it down with a napkin first to remove most of the grease. Doing that can cut out a third of the fat and calories. The sandwiches that the pizza place sells arn't bad, but go very light with the dressing, because it is very high fat. Try not to use any dressing if possible. FernGully answered Monday April 19 2004, 3:33 pm: There is nothing wrong with eating things in moderation. So, if you are planning on having pizza for your meal, just try to balance having pizza with drinking water, since you should always drink water.
The biggest problem in eating habits is constant snacking - so don't snack on food from work. Bring some carrots sticks or another fruit or veggie that you like to eat on its own. Don't snack on the greasy foods at your work.
Try not to have the personal pizzas more then once a week, in fact, make sure you don't.
Is it possible for you to jog to work or even walk? Or maybe walk somewhere else that will involve exercise. Exercise is always good.
Your sandwiches sound healthy enough, just as long as you eat those in moderation as well. Make sure you drink plenty of water, eat fruits andvegetables (in moderation too) and make an effort to exercise in some way - even if its only a bit. Some is better then none. Cspinoza1 answered Monday April 19 2004, 2:26 pm: Ok your problem isn't the food you are eating but rather your lack of exercise. Some people have avery hig metabolism which allows them to eat and not work out. But a majority of people have to work out after eating Pizza/subs/salads. Like I used to work at a Pizza place (Dions) 8 hour shifts 3 days a week I was 150lbs when I started a year later I was 175 because I rarely exercise, 3 months later after working out throughout the weeks I was below the weight I had when I began. So just exercise 45-65 min 3-7 times a week and I mean cardio and swimming, and if you feel like it lift weights. But swimming is the easiest because you burn more calories.
