the thing i did was just lay down and rest.. watch t.v... talk on the phone while i would rest etc. lol
hope its been imforming.. lol <3 ]
You don't just want to STOP one day, because you can get pretty messed up. Tell your doctor. Maybe decress your dose, until u get to 15 mg. Because 15mg never helped me so now i take 25. ]
I'm on 100mg Zoloft right now. I don't understand why you have to go off your antidepressants? You can be on these things for YEARS and have no side effects whatsoever. You can't become addicted, or anything. My doctor told me that if i didn't feel completely comfotable with going off Zoloft, I didn't have too. If you're scared to go off your meds, maybe you shouldn't. Personally, I'm afraid that my depression will come back, but that's just me. Maybe yours is a medical thing, I don't know. Just something to think about.
As for withdrawl symptoms... it depends on what you're on. As far as I know, there's not many for Zoloft or Prozac. It varies though. ]
i dropped mine a while ago. I was on Zoloft. 50mgs a day. I had no symptoms at all. Talk to your doctor about it. Sometimes you get the syptoms sometimes you dont. ]
If you're on a large dosage, perhaps you could ask your doctor to give you smaller and smaller doses to ease you off of it? ]
Mordak,
I'm really sorry that you didn't state the type of medication you currently take. Some drugs DO have a increased risk of physical withdrawal upon completion while others have less of the aforementioned risk.
Millions of people, perhaps as many as 10 percent of the American population, have taken serotonin boosters, which are often used to treat depression, panic disorder and compulsive behavior. Many of them have no problem discontinuing use, but others experience side effects of varying degrees. If there are to be any signs of withdrawal, you would want to look for signs of dizziness, nausea, an "electric shochk" sensation and others. During treatment, the body can build a dependency on the medication being taken.
I'm sure your physican is very competent and is well aware of the risks involved. Ask him/her about your concerns. I'm also sure that he/she will want tp monitor you closely during your weaining period and will make the transition as comfortable as possbile. ]
i was on anti deoressants for years you have to ween yourself of them ,if you on 1 day ,them have 1 ,1 day and miss the next if your on more than 1 a day reduse you daily intake ,slowley your dr would advise the best way forward you will get bad side effects if you just straight of them ]
You will be "weaned"off your antidepressents so as NOT to have ill side effects. You must not go off of them yourself. Get instructions from your Doctor?Psychiatrist. The idea of antidepressants and other such drugs is to get you to a place where you are feeling better, can talk about your stuff, try new behaviors, become more functional. Its called a "therapeutic intervention". Some people are able to go off of them after sometime because the problem has been corrected. Others stay on longer and even for life because of brain chemistry. Apparently, your doctor wants to see how you function AFTER being on them. Let the expert, your doctor, help you with this process. These drugs have to be monitored in this way when you start them all the way to the steps to "wean" off of them. Ask about side effects too and tell the doc you're scared--I don't think there's going to be ANY problem!! insight2020 ]
