NEEDED: Boyfriend Begone!

Question Posted Wednesday February 18 2004, 7:01 pm

I was the one who wrote "First Kiss Gone Wrong" I have had time to think about it and I really don't want to have a boyfriend right now. *Peter* is really nice but I just don't really want to be with him anymore. If I break up with him everyone at school will say, "I told you so!" Because they all made bets on how long we would last the first day we were together. I don't want to have to be the one to break up with him but I will if I get really unhappy. HOw can I 'make' him break up with me?

tell your best friend that you can trust the most and that didn't make any bets tell her to tell him that you were cheating on him with a boy from another school. and then you start flirting with allthe cute boys that you see but make sure that he's around if that doesn't work then call himm and teel him that you need to get to know him a little bit more or all u want to be is a friend to him and tell him that he can tell people that he dumped u or when u get at school then tell people that it was both of u guises choice.

If you don't want to be in this relationship, BREAK IT OFF. The longer you leave it, the worse it will get. You can't 'make' him break up with you - he might not think anything is wrong, and doing stuff to make him like you less will get you in even deeper problems. You need to talk it over with him, and tell him how you feel. Honesty is the best policy.

Tell him all the important things you just told us...(except leave out the bet)

Just be honest...and say you really like him but there's too much going on right now. It's the best way...don't lead him on just so you can make your friends happy. The words "I told you so" don't hurt as much as the words dont hurt as much as you think they do.
The words "This isn't working out" are best taken when the relationship hasn't been too long...so what I'm saying like I said before is DONT LEAD HIM ON. Do what you feel is right.

Hi again. That's fine if you don't want to have a boyfriend right now. Maybe it's just not the right time for you. Let's see. You could get him to hate you...
Mostly kidding about that last thing. You can't really MAKE someone break up with you. Chances are you're gonna have to suck it up and do it yourself. Who cares if they say "I told you so"? If you live your life caring more about what other people say than what you think and say, you're going to be rather unhappy. Just be honest with him. Tell him you've been thinking and it's just not the right time in your life to have a boyfriend. Best of luck!

That's tough, because really, you can't. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and face the music yourself. Take him out in private, and tell him how you feel, reminding hom he didn't do anything wrong. As for the people who say "I told you so!", try shrugging and saying "Yeah, you did. What's your point?"
