Ow. Just...Ow...

Question Posted Thursday February 12 2004, 9:49 pm

Not sure if it goes under "injuries"...but whatever...it just hurts.

Today when i woke up, my chin just had some kind of pain i never felt before. it feels as if a "bump" grew or something. whenever i touch it, my chin hurts.

i might not be able to go to the doctors...my parents don't have the money. And Because of that, I don't have money.

It might be those random things...sometimes my knee hurts, and it stop in a few minutes...
kind of like...when you leg gets numb...only with a pain.

help?

If you are going to school you need to tell your school nurse maybe she can help tell her your parents dont have much money. Also tell your parents maybe you can get on medicaid.

You probably have a deep pimple. Basically, it's a swollen bump under your skin that's full of fluid and hurts when you touch it. Don't even think about popping it at this point, because you'll get a bad scar. What you'll want to do is either buy some sort of cheap facial mud mask thing to bring down the swelling during the day, and then hold a warm cloth against it for fifteen minutes every night to help it either surface or drain back into your skin. My ex-boyfriend had something that sounds exactly like what you're describing, but I would ask a school nurse or something just in case.

Ice. A bump will go down with Ice. But you should have Medicare/Medicaid if you don't have the $$ for the doctors.

I'd say acne.

Once in class I somehow hit my nose, it hurt really bad.

Next day, I wake up, and there is a big painful bump. I thought it might be a 'battle scar' type thing, but it wasn't even a bruise...

IT WAS A HUGE PAINFUL PIMPLE!

Not a patch, just a big one. It seemed to be under the skin. The hit seemed to push the oils of your skin inward so then they created pimples UNDER the skin.

And sometimes I get painful pimples just because it's on a nerve or something. But yeah, you could get hit at night (once my cat knocked over a pretty hefty glass goblet thing, and it fell on my head. It didn't break, though. I was having a dream in which my skull shattered, then I thought I was dead, then I woke up and felt my head hurting. Damn cat).

You really have to go to the doctors...
If you can't, then go to the school nurse...I'm sure they will know how to take care of whatever it is. If she tells you to go to the doctors...tell her the truth...don't just say "okay." because whatever it is can worsen if you don't tel her that your parents don't have the money for the doctor.

Good Luck!
Hope you feel better!

p.s...maybe you banged it (chin or knee) when you were sleeping...

Z answered Friday February 13 2004, 10:19 am:
Unfortunately my friend, it sounds like you might have a patch of acne starting. Not just a zit, but an actual patch of acne, trust me, I know about it. I used to get the same thing on my cheeks and chin from about 12 until 15, when it really broke out and covered them in what looked like sores for some horrible disease like the plague. I would suggest using Clearasil or the like if you normally use soap to wash your face (if you don't wash your face, start), and it'll probably clear up. If it is acne, it's a matter of clogged pores, so much so that your skin is bunched up together and that makes the area sensitive.
If you're male, it might be an ingrown hair. This all depends on how much and what kind of a bump we're talking about here, it could be completely harmless, acne or a bruise or something, or the start of melinoma, which is skin cancer.
Have your parents look at it, and discuss going to a doctor if the pain gets worse, they probably have some sort of co-pay insurance plan.

I would first recomend you take some painkillers, and maybe have a look online. This isn't the perfect solution, but if you really can't get to a doctor it will have to do.
