Hi there im 22 as you can see and i have been giving advice since i was 16. Everone i know comes to me for advice from the little things to the big.
I have been through a lot of stuff in my lifetime and although i dont think i know everything (who does really?!) i can give advice about life, love, loss, friendship, family and anything else you might think of.
The only things i would say is that i dont do technical advice sorry but there are a few good columnists on here who know what they are talking about!

I believe that good advice can help with over 90% of lifes problems today, as the saying goes a problem shared is a problem halved.

Seriously, what are cold sores? I see commercials for the cure and stuff but I don't know what is it. How can you get Sore form a cold?! (link)

Cold sores are just basically blisters that you get mainly on your lips but can be transferred to other places.
They are a virus and can be caught through kissing or close contact.
I have had them in the past and they are not very nice to have but go away quite quickly and dont do any harm really.

So i've known for a long time that my mom is an alchoholic, but she just resently got sent to jail for drinking and driving again... This really upsets me especially because i didn;t even have a chance to prepare myself for it. i don't live with her, so that's a plus, and I've always been really close to my dad. but there are just some things that you need a mom for.... SO yesterday i got a letter from her (from jail) and she is acting like everything is perfectly normal. SHould i write back? idk if im ready or not. and if i do should i confront her about her issue, now that she's in jail.... or should i just leave it alone and wonder? (link)

From reading this i can sense that your mother has hurt you deeply, and this is something you need to deal with.
Talk to someone close, explain to them excatly how you feel about whats happened and then decide wether to write back.
The first time you do write to her will be very hard and might take a few attempts but you should tell her how you feel without actually being catty or rudde because you obviously still want some kind of relationship with her.
Tell her how much this has affected you and your life and hopefully she will realise what this is doing to you and maybe stop.
I really hope that everything goes really well for you and i hope you have someone to support you through this.

There is a program which is called photoshop which you can do loads of cool stuff to photos and even repair old photos, mess them up and heaps more.
Hovever it is quite expensive (from around £400 +) so if you are considering buying it, shop around for the best deal.

During my period, and sometimes like a day or two before it starts, my acne gets worse. Why does this happen because after my period is over my acne goes away. What can I do to prevent it? (link)

This is normal hun, there really is not much you can do about it.
When you have your period there are so many hormones running through your body its no wonder that sometimes we all feel a bit off!
The best thing you can do for the acne part is to use a strict facial cleansing routine, find a good cleanser, toner and moisturiser and use them religously. Sometimes exfoliants or masks once a week can help too but not essential.
hopefully though with time the acne will lessen or maybe go away completely but as long as you use a good face routine you should have no problems. xx

Alright so I'm dating this guy for about a month. I really really care for him and he's so amazing to be around. I don't know whether I love him or not...but I certainly feel like I do. I don't want to say anything, though, because I don't want to scare him away. I was just wondering what period of time do you think should elapse in a relationship before you tell the person that you love them? What's the "norm"?

There really is no norm in a relationship as every one is different.
For example my last boyfriend took 4 months to tell me and my recent one has only been two weeks.
I cannot tell you now is the time to say those three scary words!
The thing is here is to look for signs that he loves you too. The way he acts or speaks around you can be clues, especially if he speaks about having a future with you, or wants you to meet his parents etc.
From the way you describe him i would say that you are certinaly falling for him but you dont really give me a lot of details to go from, have you ever been in love before? Do you know how it really feels to be in love?
As i said there is no norm, you basically just have to wing it. Sorry i really cant say much more but dont worry about scaring him away, if he likes you as much as you like him it wont be long before he says those three words to you.

I know it hurts when a man uses you and there is no quick fix to get over that.
The best thing you can do is to just get on with your life dont let this man ruin it for you.
You have lost your virginity and there is nothing you can do to to get that back but learn from this not to make the same mistake again.
Save yourself for someone who you really care about and who feels the same way back, at least that way you know that they will not be using you for sex.
Many young women go through the exact same thing and wind up regretting it, i know i did! but since then i have learned to be true to myself, get on with life and not dwell and most importantly never to let a man get what he wants. xxx

Right to start off with hun please go to the police. you have been abused by two men who had no right to do that to you.
I went through the same thing a couple of years ago and the police helped me so much.
You also have to tell your parents, i know you say they hate you but this is a serious issue and they do love you and will help you any way they can.
also go to the doctors, you need to tell him what happened and get him to do a full std check just to be on the safe side.
It does sound like you have an std but it should clear up if the doctor gives you antibiotics.

The best and safest thing you can do is use some fake tan on the white parts but make sure you rub it in and dont use too much at one time.
Use a small amount wait untill it develops then go over it again untill you have the colour you want.
I know it might seem easier to go to the sunbeds but faking it is the safest option x

my boyfriend and i had sex on monday night and it didnt hurt when we were doing it but that morning when i went to use the restroom and peed it really hurt it was a burning feeling and when i was peeing i got up and it still kept feeling weird like it was hurting down there. i can't explain the feeling its like i have to go pee but when i do go sit on the toilet i dont have to go its like a feeling i have to go it hurts to down there. today is wednesday and it still keeps hurting. i don't know what is wrong with me i mean what is wrong with me will this every go away because its been two days and its making me cry. someone please help me give me some answers. i have made a doctors appoitment but i have to wait until october 13. to go and that is like two weeks away and i cant not wait that long. someone please help me! I have had the same problem before and i was really worried i had caught something but turns out it was a urinary tract infection. This can be sexually transmitted but it will go away after a course of antibiotics.
You will have to tell your boyfriend about this as he might need treatment too.

I am so scared. I share lipgloss sodas utensils and cups with my friends. One of them has a cold sore, or some kind of fever blister that just went away. my mom and my other friend thought they were getting one, and my friend has oral herpes, and she found this out recently. Ive shared the above with them, and recently ive realized my mouth is hurting and is very chapped. when i put some regular lipglosses on it hurts, so i use blistex, or sally hansen chapped lip repair. ive always had rashes but their coming up again. im not very surprised about that but im still freaked out their coming back now. do i have mono or herpes or some oral problem? The chances are hun that you have'nt actually got the cold sore virus. However if you do think you have it dont worry, its a common problem a lot of youngsters get through close contact. Have a look on the website i found, i think it will answer all your questions.

I have a crush on my friend, lets call him Mike, and I think he has a crush on me, too. This is why: I was talking to his friend (My friend also) and I told him that I liked Mike. He paused and then said "?!?!?" and then said that 'he promised Mike.....' and when I asked what, he said nothing and that he couldn't tell. Mike also does a lot of things that make a lot of my frieinds think he likes me. Do you think he likes me? Do I ask him about it or do I wait for somthing to happen? Your gonna have to ask him hun, its about the only thing you can do. I dont mean ask him outright but ease into it, get a conversation going start talking about friendships and how much they mean etc. then you can get in how nuch he means to you as a friend, if he says he likes you as a friend take that and move on as friends, but if he tells you how he really feels you will be able to move on as partners. i really hope it works out for you hun and p.s. dont leave it too long the longer you wait the harder it will be to say how you feel x

theres this boy and we did this camp thing together this summer and that's where i met him, he was with my best friend for a while but thats over. and now hes with me.. but we're going out in secret i guess? everyone knows but he wont actually ask me. and in a few weeks is his homecomming, and everything thought he was gonna ask me. he hasnt been talking to me a lot latley.. and its kinda been upsetting me thinking that he doesnt like me. when i imed him last night we were talking about homecomming and he wants to go with someone whos just a friend, and someone that will know other people there and i guess thats not me. but wat upsets me is hes asking my best friend. i told him i didnt care but in reality i was in my room crying cuz he doesnt know how much it wouldve meant to me if he took me. should i be scared? am i just being stupid and this really isnt a big deal? and should i tell him the truth and talk to him about it instead of lying to him..? cuz lying to him is making me feel horrible. right huni to start with you are not in the wrong, he has obviously been giving you the wrong signals. just ask him outright, please dont lie, tell him how you feel. i know this sounds really scary but if he is truly a friend he wont hurt you. if you think he will throw it back in your face find someone else, a good friend or cousin maybe to go to the dance with you and if you see him when you are there dont be nasty or anything just talk to him as a friend. i hope everything goes well for you, let me know if it goes okay xx
