this question is intended for girls only, considering i have no idea where a guy would come up with an answer for this, but if anyone has one, great:
anyone can answer, whats the best menstrual medication you've had? like what kicks in faster, stays in longer, kills cramps the best, that kind of thing. ever since i started having sex, 3 years ago, my cramps have been completely unbearable and it cuts into my daily routine and i can't afford to miss anymore school. the stuff i have is called naproxin or naproxine or something like that, and it kills cramps pretty well, but it takes like 2 hours to kick in. and if i have to be at school by 8 and wake up at 6, along with getting ready and everything, it just won't work. so if anyone has anything or has heard of anything that works better/faster, can you let me know? thanks in advance. (link)
|
i like naproxen sodium, if that is what you're taking. But you can also try ibuprofen. Take something in a gel cap, the gel caps work a lot faster.
I used to have the same problem. My cramps were so bad I would lay in bed for hours in pain, and sometimes it even made me throw up. But my doctor put me on the pill and I barely even have cramps anymore. You should talk to a doctor about that

What can you get from the dermatologist with insurance? I really want to get rid of my acne, Ive been having really bad bumps all over my face and dark scars for 7 years and I don't feel confident because of it. Ive tried Doxycycline a long time ago and it didn't work. now the dermatologist gave me some yesterday and I don't think it will work. I wanna try something else like the pills, chemical pill or other cream. the dermatologist was talking about chemical peels, birth control and cream, do I have to pay for most of that even though I have insurance? What will insurance get? (link)
|
It all just depends on what insurance company you have and what your plan is. Most insurance policies don't cover 100% of anything, so you will have some sort of the copay. The newer the drug, usually the more expensive. Ask your doctor for something that has a generic available (meaning the patent has run out, so it's older than 7 years old). I would say just to talk to your doctor about it and let him/her know that cost is an issue because he/she will know more about the price of things and what is best for you.
If you want to go to the doctor more prepared, you can look up your insurance plan online. My insurance company lets me sign in on their website with an account, and you can search for any drug and they will tell you what your copay will be.

I don't know what to do with him! I found out from my bff that my bf made a facebook group thing about our relationshp. I went and red a few things on it and it is personal and nothing anybody should know but us so I told him I knew he had a secret he was keeping from me but not what it was so he would tell me or something but he didn't. i kinda thought that he posted stuff and didn't think it was bad and I wanted to give him chances to say so but he just said he didnt have no secrets so i went back to read the rest and he had made it private only so now it is hidden from me.
I guess what I am asking is if he didn't think this was wrong why did he hide it when i found out? He still denies everything and now i got no proof because i cant see it anymore!!! i have been crying about this and i feel betrayed like he has a secret life on facebook or something! should i stay with him if he isn't going to be honest and still hides things?
Sorry if this is too long! (link)
|
It sounds like he obviously knew it was wrong. I don't know what was on it exactly, but how do you think he benefitted by putting that on facebook? Did it make him look cool in front of his friends or something?
Sounds to me like he is just immature. I would confront him if you are sure it was him that made it and not just one of his dumb friends. You don't need proof if you saw it and know for sure. If you confront him to his face, and specifically say you saw the group and it hurt your feelings etc. and he still denies it, then you need to reconsider your relationship. If he lies about something like that, what other bigger things could he be lying about? it's really not worth wasting your time with someone like that

you need a clinical strength deodorant. They are more expensive than the regular kind, but really worth it. I tried secret and dove clinical strength and neither worked for me. The best one that I recommend is Dry Idea. Also, if you read the directions, most of them say to apply them before you go to sleep. It absorbs better because your body temperature stays relatively stable through the night.

I want to lose 10 pounds by august 22nd. I'm going to eat really healthy. Mainly fruits and vegetables. Yogurt will be a treat. I'm going to walk 6 miles probably 4 times a week and I have a swimming pool I swim in daily. Is that possible? Should I do more?
I'm trying to target my stomach area. Is there any swimming exercises I can do that will help that?
The walk I do is in the park and is very hilly in some points. Does that help stomach area? (link)
|
It's probably possible to lose 10 pounds in two weeks, but it isn't the healthiest thing to do. Losing 2-3 pounds per week is ideal, anymore than that and it really puts too much stress on your body. You can do it, but you are more likely to gain it back afterward as well.
just swimming laps in a pool will definitely help lose weight, swimming burns a lot of calories, but won't really target one area.
Do crunches where you touch your right elbow to your left knee and left elbow to your right knee. Lay on your side and move your leg straight up over the side of your body simultaneously with your arm. (you'll feel it in your sides, this targets your waistline).
also, try laying down in the crunch position, but instead lift your legs up and move them as if you were pedaling on a bike. lift up your head and try to pull in your stomach while doing this.
walking on an incline helps your calves/butt/thighs but doesn't do much specifically for your stomach.
good luck!

yes i had a question about my period mine last for about a week. And my cramps are relly bad what can i do for them? (link)
|
I had horrible cramps, they were so bad that I even threw up sometimes. The only thing that ever helped me was to take ibuprofen or naproxen sodium every day for about 3 days before I got my period. Taking it before hand and then during helps a lot. Also putting a heating pad on my stomach helped.
But eventually I went to a gyno and she just put me on the pill and I haven't had a problem since.

does anyone know what the return policy is like? if i buy something at full price and later it goes on sale, could i return the item and still get the original amount back? (link)
|
As long as you have the original receipt and it's been 30 days or less then you'll get the original amount back, yes.

I bought this bottle of foundation from Walmart like 2 years ago. I only used it a couple of times and then I thought I had lost it. I found it today and it's still got a lot in it. Can I use it or has it expired? And how do you know if foundation has expired any ways? It don't smell bad and it looks the right shade. (link)
|
I believe foundation lasts for a year. You know it has expired if it has begun to separate (like part of it is a clear liquid and the other part is the actual foundation). Or if it has become like thicker. I would throw it away.
Eye shadows & liners last for a year before they are at risk for growing bacteria and should be thrown away. Mascara is 3 months.

This next year will be my senior year, but I am graduating early. I have six mandatory classes:
AP US History, AP Gov./Econ., AP Eng. IV, Pre-AP Pre-Cal, Pre-AP Physics, Anatomy.
I registered for another class, the Academic Decathalon. This is a rigorous course where you study intensely everyday over a topic, and this year's is the Great Depression. You go to competition in December and January and then the rest of the year you can do whatever you wish.
Last year I was in Accounting for a diverse elective and we went to Regionals in UIL.
So, my question is which adjustment should I make to my schedule, I can either be lazy or show off to colleges:
The Acadec and an Off period (What I have now.)
Accounting II and an Off period
Acadec and Accounting II
or 2 Off periods.
HELP!!! (link)
|
If you already have taken difficult classes and made good grades/have a good GPA/class rank, then senior year isn't as important as soph/junior year. Colleges look to make sure you didn't slack off, but that isnt where their focus is. More extra currics and stuff are most important in comparison if you already have the past 3 years backing you up in achievements.
I would say take Accounting II and and off period. Academic decathlon may look good to a college, but really wont serve you much in college. Focus more on getting the 4s and 5s on the AP tests rather than making As in the classes. Trust me, you will GREATLY appreciate all the college credits later. Much much more important than pretty much everything else you will do in high school.

I heard before that the only parts of your body that will always continue to grow is the feet and the nose. It really doesn't sound true to me because you don't see elderly people with huge, huge feet or noses. I am wondering if it's just one of those myths that go around. Does anyone know if it has any truth to it at all?
Thank you very much. (link)
|
Your nose and ears grow your entire life because they are made of cartilage. Old people do tend to have bigger noses and ears if you pay attention lol
Feet don't grow your whole life though. They actually shrink a little, because your bones eventually degenerate.

If you are not sure at all if you are pregnant, but you had sex on the 13th and cant know for sure until u can take a test on the 27th, would it be healthy or ok to take the abortion pill? or should i know until i definately know for sure? (link)
|
plan B is not an abortion pill. if the egg and sperm have already fused, then you are pregnant. Plan B will not help you. and if it has been 5 days, there is a good chance you are either pregnant now or not going to get pregnant. If you are talking about the actual abortion pill, then you should definitely wait. That pill costs several hundred dollars and you have to go to the doctor/planned parenthood. And it has major side effects. Talk to a doctor.

What would you say are the three biggest mistakes you made in college your freshman year? (link)
|
gaining the freshman 15 because getting rid of it sucks!
buy a scale and weigh at least once or twice a week. if you gain more than 5 pounds, you need to change up your diet/exercise routine.
also not getting involved. its one thing to party and be with friends all the time, but you should also join organizations.

I made the horrible mistake of having sex, the even worse mistake was we didn't use a condom. He told me he'd pull out, but didn't. He said it was just too hard to stop. Asshole, I know.
My last period started July 6th, and ended around the 12th-13th. I think the 12th. I have about a 24-26 day cycle. Would I be ovulating right now? I think I'm supposed to be today or within the next couple of days.
Also, I heard sperm lives inside of you ffor 3-5 days, and I think I'll be ovulating within that time but I'm not sure. Is it true that it lives inside of you for 3-5 days, and even if I wasn't ovulating today when it happened, if I am within those 3-5 days, could I get pregnant?
Basically, I'd really appreciate it if you could answer these questions for me:
1. Am I ovulating today or within the next few days?
2. Is it true it lives inside of me for 3-5 days?
3. If I start ovulating within that time, can I become pregnant?
4. Are the chances that I'm pregnant low or high?
I made such a stupid mistake, but there's nothing I can do now so please no rude comments.
And thank you so much to anyone who answers my question. (link)
|
every woman is different and all ovulate at different times. Not all women ovulate around their 14th day, even though that is considered correct.
Yes sperm can live 2-3 days, I've never heard of up to 5 days.
Your chances of being pregnant are high.
If you had sex less than 72 hours ago, go to your nearest pharmacy ASAP and get a plan B pill. You'll have to ask them because they keep it behind the counter. You must be 17 to buy it though. Do this ASAP and it'll help your chances.

i think someone lied to my friend! she told her that if she washes her hair in cold water it will shine better than any product could make it. does anyone know if this is really true?
if you KNOW for a FACT that it works can you tell us why does cold water make your hair shiny?
thanks a lot! (link)
|
the two people below me got it right.
i was just going to add that you don't have to wash your hair with wet water. you can just wash it regularly with warm/hot water and then do a final rinse at the end of the shower which will seal the cuticle. (I like doing this better so I'm not cold during my entire shower!)

My boyfriend and I are really horny and want to have sex. We haven't yet because we're young and I don't want to be a teenage mom. We've talked about it a lot and he's so afraid of getting me pregnant so I totally understand.
I was thinking about still having sex with him but during my period so it's like impossible to get pregnant. He is all for it and is really excited about it. :)
The problem is that the blood will probably make a mess, I'm guessing. I figured we could do it in the shower though and then everything would work out fine and the blood can just wash down the drain. I think this might sound pretty sexy and we can make it fun with the water.
Is that safe to do though? And will there be like LOTS and LOTS of blood or just a little bit? I need to know what to expect here... (link)
|
It would not be impossible to get pregnant even if you are on your period. Everyone ovulates at different times. You need to use some form of protection no matter what if you are not ready to have a child. Know all the facts beforehand

So im not a virgin im 16 gonna be 17 on the 20th of this month, i have a friend with benifits and we do all types of thing, but this is more just a random question but my friend nicole shes 17 and a virgin, she said that fingering is considered sex because it a part of his body inside mine, i understand what she means but i dont think that is considered to be sex i say if he puts his (cough cough) inside my (cough cough) then thats sex you cant get pregnant by fingering ..well you can but its very rare. So im just wondering is that really true that finering is considered to be sex? (link)
|
A. the person below me is wrong, sperm does not die when it hits the air. It can actually survive several hours. And as you said it is rare, but if there were sperm on his finger there is a tiny chance of pregnancy.
B. No, fingering is not considered sex. However, some people consider losing their virginity to be more like losing their innocence rather than a penis entering a vagina. So from their perspective, fingering/touching of genitals is very sexual and intimate, so they wouldn't consider you a virgin just because of that. It really just depends on your beliefs.

My partner and I have been sexually active and I'm on birth control. However, as a back-up plan I generally like to use condoms. We've both been tested for STI's and everything (I just believe in never being too safe.)
The issue is, my partner says sex is "dull" with a condom on (we've tried numerous brands) and that he really prefers sex without a condom, because he can actually "feel everything".
This has made me insecure, and I guess I'm wondering if this is normal of him to feel that way. I've heard a lot of guys complain about condoms decreasing the pleasure of having sex - is there any truth to this?
I just feel inadequate and want to please him.
(link)
|
yes there is a difference, for both parties involved. However, you are the woman so you have more "at risk" if you will. You're the one who would have to carry a child for 9 months and then care for the child if he left. Therefore you get to make the decisions when it comes to contraception. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable is what you should do. You are still pleasing him because you're still having sex with him! If he does not feel pleased, then just take away the sex.
Now I will tell you that when taken correctly, the pill is 99% effective. But if you ever miss a pill or forget to take it at the same time (even if just by a few hours) it isn't as effective and you have to use alternative methods. So if you were sure that you had taken your pill perfectly for the past month, then the chances of becoming pregnant are very slim.

Totally going to the beach tomorrow with my family but I'm on my period. I'm not going to tell my parents that though because I love the beach.
Do I wear a tampon in the water then?
Mom told me last year sometime that water stops you from bleeding. Like your period stops while you're in the water or whatever. Does that still mean I need a tampon to go swimming?
And is there a good tampon to use for swimming because I've never used tampons before! hah.
thanksss (link)
|
water definitely does not stop you from bleeding. You will definitely need to wear a tampon.
As for a specific kind, it doesn't really matter. I like Tampax pearl just because they are easy to put in, and they have a braided string that helps prevent leaks. Just be sure not to leave it in any longer than 6-8 hours.

I found two pieces of jewelry and one pair of sunglasses that I'm in love with.
Heres the problem: They're extremely expensive, and I will be using my own money to make the purchase.
Prices:
Ring - $110
Watch - $110
Sunglasses - $275
I have the money (I have around $700), but I'm not sure that I want to spend $500 dollars of my money. I recently got a job, though, which is why I'm even considering it. The job starts in September, and I will definitely have the money back by November. Depending on how much I work (I have very flexible hours), I could have the money back by October. Also, the only things that my parents make me buy with my money are expensive jewelry, and electronics (ex. an ipod).
I'm definitely willing to spend up to $400 dollars, but its the $500 that's bothering me.
What would you guys do in my situation, and which ones would you buy if you didn't splurge and buy them all?
Thanks :) (link)
|
well I don't really know your family's financial situation, but honestly when you get a job and have been working for at least a month or two, only then do you begin to realize what a dollar is really worth. (yes I realize that may sound corny) Have you had a job before this one?
Anyway, speaking as a broke college student (19/f) I wouldn't spend that kind of money so quickly. Wait a while. See if you still want the stuff in a week or two. I totally understand wanting to splurge and treat yourself to nice things for working hard, trust me. But $4-500 is a lot to spend on jewlery/nice sunglasses. If i were you and really wanted those things, I would first check outlet malls. They have great deals on expensive, name brand sunglasses. They usually sell sunglasses originally priced around 275 for about 100. You could also look at amazon and even ebay for better prices. You get the same product but for way less.
Same goes for the ring and watch. If they are nice, and high quality then maybe $110 is more reasonable. But still shop around. You might find something you like even better for less. Never just buy something that expensive on a whim. You'll wish you had that money back later.
Also consider saving a portion of your money. You'll definitely appreciate it later (I know I did). Especially if you plan on attending college.
