~Hot water bottle/Heat pad.
~Gentle exercise like walking or yoga.
~Taking a warm bath.
~Herbal remedies such as herbal tea. I have Chamomile and Peppermint here at home. You can find it at your local supermarket or health store. Other herbal teas that are supposed to be good for menstrual cramps are Ginger, Peppermint and Raspberry tea leaf.
Food to avoid while on your period:
I would avoid salty food (increases bloating), sugary sweet food, caffeinated foods or beverages, dairy and junk food. Stay hydrated and eat plenty of fibre. [ Tigz285's advice column | Ask Tigz285 A Question ]
vikkikimberly answered Thursday July 29 2010, 4:08 pm: mine last about a week too. my real cramps last for about two ro three days.
i sleep with a cushio to put under my back or bum to help relax my muscle in my back. sometimes i lie on my front and put the cushion under my hips and sleep (or lay) like that, sometime i put it on my stomach. it depnds whats comfortable at the time. i generally use a cushion on my red to support. while im not on my reds it stays there and i use it as an extra pillow =) or a teddy =)
another trick i do is i go onto my hands and knees and put my head to the flo and lyay like that for a while... esentally your on your knees and hae you butt in the air . some may even call it a bit like the doggy style position when havng sex. but it makes me stomach feel REALL good! and if i have deep breates and exhale through my mouth. MAN does that feel good!
lyng on the floor with my legs bent so my feet are flat on the flor and my back (and kidneys) and on the floor too helps my back.. its a really painful pain but it feels so good. haha
generally tho i recommend taking pain killers
some just find eating certain foods help. generally i find if i have eaten it helps take SOME pain away. however i know a friend that SWEARS by having a cream cake....
my other mate says to use a hot waterbottle on yourt stomach.. and to go to sleep with it.. however in the summer when its hot its a bit annoying.. that genreally a winter tip =)
OH soakingin the bath whilst having KILLER cramps is good i usually do this while i wait for my pain kills to set it =). sometime if im alone in my house i make weir screamy noises. i dunno if it helps my stomach but it sure make my head feel better after a good scream/shout haha!
oh also sometime using a tampon makes me feel a bit better. tht might be just me though. and obviously dont use tampons if your not comfortable with them =)
jennlee16 answered Wednesday July 28 2010, 9:46 pm: you need to move around alot to help you get through your menstrol cycle faster and if you walk around and just move, maybe the cramps wont be so bad...plus it helps the blood flow move down faster and stuff like that... ConfusedX2 answered Wednesday July 28 2010, 2:15 pm: I had horrible cramps, they were so bad that I even threw up sometimes. The only thing that ever helped me was to take ibuprofen or naproxen sodium every day for about 3 days before I got my period. Taking it before hand and then during helps a lot. Also putting a heating pad on my stomach helped.
